Check the surrounding shelters every day, not just the one in your city. Someone may have picked the dog up and not live near you, then dropped the dog at a shelter near them. It’s easy to do, go on their websites and scan the pictures. Also, go in person sometimes they hold dogs in the back that are not in the pictures. And put posters up, because not everyone is on social media.Read More
General information: Set up a scent station. Get a scent that the dog is familiar with out in front of the house. (EX. Worn clothing / shoes from family member dog lives with). Hang it out high so that the smell can travel and guide the dog back home. Keep an access point open in case the dog returns. Please post signs with the dogs' picture and your contact information on the sign. Post these signs all over as if someone spots your dog the person can contact you and provide a location of where the dog is. (Not everyone is on Social Media) Ask your neighbors to check their doorbell or house cameras (if applicable), sheds and garage. Call or go to the Animal Shelter in your area and tell them that your dog is missing and to see if it has been picked up.Read More

Add the cross streets! Post flyers. Post to Downey lost pets groups. Report to shelters, check in person daily, chip company - is she microchipped, collar with ID tags on I hope?! Check cameras, homeless encampments, dogs for sale on Craigslist. File a police report. People love to get ahold of these breeds to sell! Take better care of your dog and you won’t lose her!!! There’s coyotes, cars, people outside!!

Do not rely on social media alone, most of my missing animals come home, because of physical flyers!
I do 8X11 in the immediate area 4 per block, the bigger the area 3 per block and so on.
I've had the most success with the 4 per page mini handouts of the same flyer. I will give these to the Mailman, UPS, Fedex, Garbage man, Gas stations, Grocery stores.
Also fluorescent backgrounds at major intersections 8X11 or bigger.
Also law enforcement and animal control.
More than likely, it's not going to be your eyeballs. That bring your pet home. Also not everybody has social media.
So we need as much help as we can get from the community. So make it easy for them to get a hold of you.
and remember the harder you work, the luckier you get!
I hope these suggestions help you get your animal home soon and safe.
