Re your lost cat: Stressful! Please search sheds, garages, under buildings, in drains, bins, skips, in between tall walls and fences, roof and wall cavities, on rooves, up trees, vacant buildings, storage areas etc. (Might be locked in / trapped somewhere, surviving on insects, etc). Don't trust neighbours to search!!! Best ask to search yourself, or go with your neighbour. Call down drains with strong smelling food. If you can lift the grate and enter the drain, even better. (One cat recently found 500 metres away, down a drain). And /or create a temporary, stable ramp (eg with a branch of wood) from inside to outside of the drain, call down & leave strong food outside overnight. 10pm - 5am walks with strong smelling food and torch, when no cars: call calmly, stop, listen, wait. Leave a door open if safe with food inside. Leave strong smelling food (eg tinned Whiskas cat food meat and fish flavour or hot BBQ chicken) and water out overnight, near exit point and possible hiding places / where might be trapped. If food eaten, last resort, a cat trap on level ground in a safe, discreet location. Google how to use safely, monitor closely. Do not leave a trap unattended! Remain nearby. Posters, leaflets and door knock. CCTV cameras. Vets, pounds and animal welfare organisations, regularly with photo. Ensure microchip details are correct, register as lost. Do all at previous address, if puss recently moved home. (One cat recently travelled 26km to previous address, arrived 6 weeks after lost. Another found 500 metres away from where lost, 7 months later). Most cats need to be locked in for 3+ weeks to bond to a new home, otherwise sooner or later might try o head back to previous home or territory. Most cats are escape artists until bonded to new home! (eg breaking through mosquito netting and forcing sliding doors / windows open. Be extra vigilant !!). New / timid cats & kittens are prone to hiding / getting stuck under / behind / in, furniture. So also check in / behind / under drawers, wardrobes, low lounges / beds, recliner chairs (don't move leg rest until double-checked), behind fridges where warm, washing machines (always check inside before washing). Be extra careful moving furniture! Track down where any vehicles puss might have entered travelled to, do same there 😞 🙏 (See Find Booboo page: determined owner perservered for 7+ months before found her skinny cat). Sadly, most cat lovers learn the hard & traumatic way that there are too many risks and hazards for outdoor / escaped cats. (Eg cars, dogs, psychopath cat haters, ticks, toxins, foxes, snakes, pounds, locked in a shed, etc). Please consider keeping indoors and / or invest in a very secure cat enclosure or catio. (Research has found it adds 10+ years to average age of cats. Safer for cats and wildlife). Nevertheless, don't give up searching, might be ok this time ... 🙏

Go around late at night calling them with food and flashlight to catch their eyes. Check around your neighborhood under houses and in small places where they may hide. Put stuff out that has yours and their scent on it. Hang flyers around for people to see. Check shelters and vets daily. Update chip info if they have a chip and its has not been update since a move. Ask neighbors to check in their garages incase they ended up trapped in one. I pray you get your baby back safe and soon.

Please feel free to copy / paste / share this advice to help find a lost kitty: Distribute flyers- knock on neighbors’ doors and hand them out, and post them at intersections as well as any businesses close by. Flyers generate sightings. The more eyes out, the better. Mini flyers are also a great idea- LOST PET, a pic of your pet and phone number, printed 9 to a page and cut. Tape near doors of neighbors not at home. Many people save these on their fridge and call with sightings -Ask neighbors to check their yards, garages, sheds, under decks and any possible hiding spots. (It’s always best if they let you look.) The majority of people (about 85% rough guess) are kind and want to help. Some people can be indifferent or jerks. Please don’t let them get to you. Most successful reunions come from talking to neighbors vs. posting online- but please do both! -Post on Nextdoor, PawBoost and the local lost and found pet pages on Facebook. Post on Ring app as well. You don’t need a Ring camera to have an account and neighbors frequently post found pets and sightings. ***BEWARE OF SCAMMERS! Ask them to text you a pic of the cat they see. Beware of comments on social media that recommend pet search services on instagram, these are scams. Some will even ask for a code sent to your phone- never give this out -There are reputable pet detective services in many areas that use tracking dogs trained to find cats with great success rates. Consider using one near you. -Indoor cats usually stay within a one mile radius from home, though they can travel further. The majority are found within a 5 house radius. Outdoor cats tend to travel further, usually within a 17 house radius. Most indoor cats are found very close to home, as in a few houses away or a street over. They are usually found after getting sightings and with trapping. Some come home on their own, usually in the overnight hours. -Start searching at home, thoroughly search inside your home unless you know kitty escaped, check any potential hiding spots in your yard & garage. Inside and under sheds and decks. Walk your neighborhood. Check under bushes, up trees and rooftops. Under cars, nearby storm drains, shine a high powered flashlight into bushes and trees and look for reflecting eyes. They are masters at hiding and can squeeze into the smallest spaces. They usually will try to return home between 10 PM and 5 AM, most are on the move at dusk / dawn. They can often respond at dusk/ just after dark or at dinner time to the pop of a can. Some cats stay hidden for weeks traveling at night. -Don’t yell out calling for your cat or sound loud or nervous, keep your voice calm. Having a normal chat on the phone while sitting outside has worked to help draw kitty out if nearby **Do NOT put a litter box outside. It can attract feral cats that scare kitty away, or worse-coyotes and other predators. Litter has actually been used by hunters to lure coyotes 😳 A cat will be attracted by scent of his home / family, but a coyote won’t. Instead, put dirty laundry / bedding of your family outside on your porch or near the door, or place in the garage with the door cracked open a few inches. Continue to replace daily. -Is your kitty spayed / neutered? If not, they can become escape artists and bolt outside. They tend to travel further looking for a date, especially males. When you get your baby back, please get them spayed / neutered asap. Spaying / neutering is kind and not only prevents adding more orphaned cats out on the streets, but it tends to curb your cat’s desire to roam. -Check nearby shelters and online listings & stray intakes, but go to the shelters in person at least every 3 days. They’re not always up to date on their postings. -If microchipped, report lost to the chip company and make sure your contact info is updated

Lost Cats‼️ Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and a pillow case outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of her eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap.

.🐈‍⬛I have gathered these suggestions from many years of personal experience. Check the local shelters. Someone may have taken him in. Talk to your neighbors someone may have taken him in or given him shelter. Check neighbors garages and storage sheds he may have sought shelter from fear or bad weather. If you haven't already done so put a sign in your yard with a picture and phone number that way if someone finds him, they will know you have a lost cat. Also try putting food, litter box, his bedding and clothing with your scent on it nearby outside. He may be able to find his way home by familiar scents. Most cats that get outside accidentally don't go far from home. Be sure to look up. Check trees and bushes . Try going out about sundown around your neighborhood and call for him. Walk and call and listen for him. Take a can of cat food like fish, pop the top, tap it with a s, familiar sounds may bring him running to you. Cats tend to move at night so be watchful after dark, he may try to come home but no one is awake to let him in. Don't give up hope, cats have found their way home after being gone a very long time. Cats are amazing! I hope these suggestions will help to bring your pet home. Prayers that you find your missing cat very soon...so handsome and I know you miss him.
