Erin Dunfee .... So on April 4th I took my cat to pet resource Center of Kansas City got her spayed microchipped and got her shots a couple days and a month later she had been at a friend of mine's in the city since I live south and couldn't have her where I live she got into a vehicle while I was raining and took a ride down the road maybe about 2 miles.. when the people stopped she bolted out of their vehicle and I hadn't seen her again I drove up three times in one week to look for her put out signs and do what I could to spread the word via online.. continually looking for her on all sides and everything in between I got a comment on one of my posts from the director at the Kansas City Kansas shelter on Park avenue she sent me a photo and said we think we have your cat at that point it had already been four or five days so over $100 in total I think $135 at that point I questioned why she wasn't scanned the day she entered the shelter and they told me that she was and that she did not have a chip and that that was not my cat I am 1 billion percent sure it is my cat but yet they won't take accountability and pet resource Center says there's no way that her chip would have been missed and I have all the documentation for it and it was definitely activated to me.. anyhow she's still at that shelter of Park avenue and I do not have the money to get her out I didn't have the money to get her out the day I found out because of the $135 cost plus it's been a $15 a day since and it's been about five or six days since so we're looking at over $200 and I'm afraid that they are going to keep moving her around or I won't be able to find her once she's eligible for adoption I kept asking them since they told me I had until the 22nd to get her if indeed 22nd was the day she would be eligible for adoption and I would just adopt her for $40 I don't understand how they can charge such a high fee $60 initially plus $15 a day pay for food litter and upkeep with staff instead of giving a little bit of leniency for someone who has all of the photos all of the proof and has taken the necessary steps to make sure that my cat did not reproduce at all not once and I'm worried that they give her second shots if indeed she was not microchipped and has no records that they would give her a second dose of shots and who knows what that could do? And the fact that they couldn't just work with me Bill me or whatever with the remaining cost and take the money that I had that day which was I think $60 but I could have come up with a little more I just think it's really ignorant that they want to have a full shelter with no room for extras pay for the general upkeep of an animal instead of working with the owner and then have the audacity to tell me that that cat is not mine when she has unmistakable markings. I cannot find her now on 24 petwatch but I haven't really been trying to focus my attention on it as I have so much going on and it does nothing but upset me in fact an infuriates me and disgusts me because it seems as if it's some type of scam that may be possibly pet resource Center of Kansas City and the Kansas City Kansas shelters are in cahoots and not willing to take any accountability or have any empathy and understanding to relinquish an animal to someone who wants it and has proof of ownership but yet possibly re-immunize a cat or dog and withhold such animal from owners and countering costs each day in shelter it's just really sad and stupid in my opinion and yeah I don't know what's going to come of it but I also have an appointment on the 22nd that is going to last the entire day of their business hours so I won't be able to go get her that day and even if I did have the money and was able to be there or send someone in my place they would never respond to me I've asked probably four or five times on social media email and on the phone if the 22nd was the day she would be eligible for adoption and if she was eligible for adoption on the 22nd would she still be in the same facility they all skirted the question and would not answer me
