General Information: Hang clothes with your scent on it high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely.

Put an article of clothing with your scent on it on your porch close to where he got out. Cats have a wonderful sense of smell and will come to those items. Leave a window cracked nearby so that you can hear him. Cats usually don’t go more than a few houses in any direction, so post pictures around the neighborhood and on doors. Ask neighbors to keep an eye out and to check garages and sheds. Cats hide, usually fairly close by. They tend to come out after dark, so look for him then. Call and rattle a treat can if he likes those. If you put food out, stay close by, because it will also attract other animals that might scare him away. Don't leave it out very long. Also, go in person to shelters and vets' offices, and leave a picture and phone number there. I hope you find him!

They can get locked by mistake in sheds garages and bats, ask neighbors to check and if they can leave doors open for a while. A frightened cat in hiding probably won’t come out when people are around. Most lost cats come home/ are found between 2-5 am so that’s a good time to look. If you can safely leave a door or window cracked open specially at night, the kitty might walk back in. Flyers in the area help too.
