Message from Owner

Amelia is 4 yrs. She wears a collar with a pink heart cat tag that list her name and my phone #. The collar also holds an AirTag. The AirTag tracks her location but the AirTag appears to no longer be tracking. The battery is new. It’s possible someone removed the AirTag. Last location on AirTag is Main/Val Vista. Amelia is spayed and has a chip. She is a friendly cat. She easily will come to you

Search at night with flashlight and treats and carrier. Contact feral feeders in area to keep an eye out. Put up lots of flyers. Take flyer to vets within 2 mile radius. Go out nightly looking. Around 830 or later. Cats are often afraid and wait for humans to go inside. Best of luck.

Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Especially important if cat is in new/unfamiliar area. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small, tight, dark areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. (Note: if anyone asks for money or a code as “they have your pet,” this is a scam). https://www.pawboost.com/blog/7-effective-search-tips-for-finding-your-lost-cat/ https://petfbi.org/i-lost-a-cat/tips-to-lure-a-cat-back-home-2/

General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.
