By LAW report the dog found to the shelter, you can often do so online, it does not mean you have to surrender the dog. Owners will often check the shelters often when looking for their dogs. Ask them if you can foster the dog while trying to find the owners. If the owners do not come forward after the stray hold is up, then the dog can be adopted out legally through the shelter. Do not give this dog to anyone but the owner, a finder cannot adopt a just found dog out, pets are considered property of the owners, and it can turn into a legal issues if a just found pet is given to someone else before the owners have time to come forward. If you cannot hold onto the dog discuss your options with the county shelter.

Report as found to Orange county animal services. Supply a picture and where found. Owner will be looking there. Scan for a chip if you haven't already. You can also take the dog to local vets to see if they know them.

DO NOT CALL ANIMAL SERVICES! if u can't hold till owner is found find someone who can or find a NON RESCUE and update post where u took her!
