FOUND DOG – Barrington, NJ 🐾 Found this sweet pup today (August 2) around 5:00 PM in Barrington, NJ. It appears to be a Yorkie mix and was wearing a pink/bluish collar with a paw print pendant (no ID tags). The dog is safe and currently staying with my mom while we work on finding its family. We’ll also be having the dog scanned for a microchip and will continue checking lost pet posts and groups. If you believe this is your dog, please message me with proof of ownership (recent photos, distinguishing features, vet records, etc.). I will only respond to people who can verify they are the owner to make sure this pup gets back to the right home. If you think you know who this dog might belong to, or have seen any lost dog posts that match, please send me a message or tag them in the comments. Please share to help this sweet pup find its way home! ❤️🐾

🐾FOUND DOG PROTOCOL- Follow the Law KNOCK ON NEIGHBOR’S DOORS IMMEDIATELY. 🚨MUST get proof of Ownership! Please report to local police and animal control as owner has probably made a lost pet report. This is a law. Finders must report a found pet. 🐾Just remember Found Animals can’t be re-homed by you. You have to make an effort by law to find the owner and if not turn over to Animal Control who will take to the shelter your town contracts with. ⬇️ Please knock on your neighbors door up to two miles, although not all dogs run far when they get out. Hand them Found Dog flyers. Get proof of ownership before you hand the dog over! Proof of ownership is: Multiple pictures from their phone of them with the dog or the dog, dog’s name, Vet receipts. Please also check the Facebook lost pet pages local to your town. You can also take to a Vet for free service of scanning for a microchip. Please do everything you can to find the owner because once animals go into the “system” when animal control is called there is only a 7 day hold period before they can legally adopt out. Going into a shelter places a tremendous amount of stress on an animal and because of the stress they are prone to biting as it’s their only defense mechanism. Thank you for helping! Animals choose their rescuers. We can’t let them down.

LOST DOG ADVICE Pls bring to local police or shelter associated with where you found the dog. Those are where owners will be calling and looking, and they may not be on social media at all. Either can also scan for a chip. If anyone tries to claim, please ask for perfect ownership papers, and that exchange is most safely done at the police station. Pls don’t give to anyone else to hold, or re-home. Thank you. 🙏🏼

Thank you for keeping this pup safe and also making sure to vet people that say its their dog. A lot of people will keep an animal they found instead of finding their home and so many people show up when there's a lost animal claiming its theirs when its not
