Check extremely good around your house and neighbors, shrubs, bushes, high grass, paper bags and trees, underneath porches and decks, outbuilding and garages, evening time when it’s quiet too, check all shelters in your county and animal control also.

LOST CAT TIPS Cats typically don't go very far, and are hiding, so you'll have to search for them. Get smelly food, like tuna or sardines out ASAP. Put dirty clothing (a pillowcase you've been sleeping on is best) with your scent out along with food, as your cat will be looking for your scent. • Your cat will try to re-enter the house the same way it left. If possible, secure other any other animals you have and leave the door ajar/window open that he escaped from. Check in and around your home: inside the entire house, bushes, up in trees, deck, porch etc. If their head fits their body will too! Do NOT put the litter box out as it may attract community cats and other predators, which could actually deter your cat from coming home out of fear. IMMEDIATELY make a flyer and/or go door to door and ask neighbors to check outbuildings, sheds, garages and their Ring and other security camera footage for sightings of him/her and to text/call you ASAP! Not everyone uses social media, so large neon posters/flyers in your neighborhood is critical in getting your lost pet back home. Post on all social media groups, especially those specific to your neighborhood and on Nextdoor, and Ring. Definitely post on For the Love of Louie and check periodically on their FOUND pages to see if he/she has been found by someone. Go out periodically through out the night (especially after midnight until dawn) shaking his/her treats or opening a can of wet food and call to him/her. Use a flashlight to look under cars, bushes and up in trees for the glow of the kitties eyes. Listen for any responses and watch for movement and/or eyes peering out. Renting/borrowing/buying a live trap and setting within the first 24 hours your cat has been missing is a good idea. Live traps need to be monitored frequently (a camera with a live feed is best). Be prepared to release wildlife. If you have a garage, leave the door open enough for him/her to get in. If you live in a mobile home community look under yours and your neighbor's homes.

Look at night with a flashlight while calling her name. Look especially under bushes and in neighbors yards garages and sheds. Look up in trees, Leave something outside with her scent on it like her bedding. Leave something outside with your scent on it like an unwashed piece of clothing. Leave out smelly cat food. Hang signs with her photo. Call and visit local shelters and veterinary offices. Good luck!🍀
