Message from Owner

Our 14-year-old dog went missing around 3:30 a.m. last night. My husband let him outside to go potty and stayed outside the entire time. He never heard a sound, but our sweet old boy never came back. Fitz is our "just happy to be here" boy. He's never met a stranger and is a gentle soul. We're absolutely worried sick and just want him home safe. If you see him, or have any information at all, please contact us immediately. Even the smallest lead could help. Please note: He has much more white around his eyes than shown in these older photos. We live near Grassy Creek Winery area. Please share this post to help bring him home.🐾

Gail Heath Jackson thank you for the fantastic tips. We have done a few of these, but there are some we haven't thought of yet. We will try them now! We have cats and were considering setting their litters outside too

if you haven't please put something with your dog's scent on it, like a blanket they sleep on, outside your door along with something with YOUR scent from your hamper. The combination of BOTH your scents will help to orient them if still roaming your neighborhood. (While they loose, they are spreading their own scent; that’s why it’s so important to mingle BOTH theirs and your scent together.) The sound of your voice is important, too; talking with someone outside in a NORMAL tone of voice, even on your cellphone, can help bring them home. Get some kind of flyer up asap at least on your street. Contact area shelters and local animal control. If you havent called chipped company call right away. Post everywhere you can and on Nextdoor. Letting your neighbors know quickly to be on the look out is important. Also take your other dogs on a walkabout as part of the secnt trail. If chipped Notify the chip company and make sure your info is correct with chip company. Also just want you to know that a ladys furbaby that was missing,1 day short of a year was found about a,week or so ago 5 miles from home... she kept posting every week and everyone kept sharing .. and everyone in her area kept looking and someone recognized him, had changed but he remembered his "mama" ... ❤

THIS USUALLY WORKS....please read ort about survival mode... how to rescue a lost dog or your dog when you find him/her. Some other things you can try when you find your or someone's furbaby that has be lost. After a little while your own furbaby may not know you or come to you when lost. Never chase. Always get as low as you can and don't call them by name!!. Remember they are in survival/flight mode. Very important to read: Understanding survival mode in dogs lost.. https://holidaybarn.com/blog/dog-survival-mode/ Have a crinkly bag like a potato chip bag or some treats (keep it in your car, it just needs to make noise when you crinkle it) .. When you see a stray dog, get out of your car and watch the dog out of the corner of your eye. Start crinkling the bag and start saying very loudly “YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY!” as you act are dropping the food onto the ground. (Smelly hamburger works great too) Kneel down and start acting like you’re picking up pieces that you dropped on the ground In many cases, the dog will have stopped and will be watching you because you are no longer using that “Come here!” voice. You are using the universal language (yummy, yummy) of food, and you are kneeling down and not a threat. Also, you are not going to the dog, but many times, the dog will come to you! Slow and easy no quick moves I hope this helps!! 💘

Bailey Sage Orndorff Yes we did! We were hoping he made his way to it, it's a trail we had taken him on often, but we didn't see him. We will probably go back today just to make sure.
