I hope this helps! ❤️‍🩹 Recommendations for when a kitten goes missing: 1️⃣ The 200-meter rule: A lost cat rarely goes far from the place where it went missing—usually a maximum of 150-200 meters, but typically much closer. If disoriented, an indoor cat will look for another apartment, and an outdoor cat will look for another house. Check parking lots, high trees, basements, or empty houses. They avoid open spaces or large green areas. 2️⃣ The shock state: After getting lost (usually due to a scare), a cat goes into shock. They can stay frozen in the same spot for days without eating or drinking. The cat will NOT respond to anyone except their OWNER. If multiple people call out, the cat might freeze and not even answer its owner. 3️⃣ The best hours: Search between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM. This is when there is the least amount of street noise, making it easier for the cat to hear you and for you to hear their meows. 4️⃣ Start at the door: Begin right at your front door. Call them the way they are used to (you can shake a bag of kibble). Listen closely. A lost cat won't usually come out; they will only meow to answer you. 5️⃣ Walk slowly: Repeat the call every 20 steps and listen. Cover the area and return the same way, walking slowly. Sometimes a cat won't answer, but they will follow quietly behind you. 6️⃣ Don't give up: Do not stop after just one night. Many owners find their beloved furry friends after a month or even longer. 7️⃣ Check cameras & flyers: Look at security cameras to see which way they went. Post large flyers with cell phones and landlines. Ask neighbors and security guards. CRITICAL: Turn off PRIVACY settings on your Facebook post/page so people can comment and message you. Check your "Message Requests" folder constantly! 8️⃣ The scent trick: If your cat has never been outside, scatter some of their used litter around your home. They will recognize the scent. Also, wear well-worn, unwashed clothes during the search so they can smell and recognize you. 9️⃣ ID tags aren't enough: Unfortunately, collar tags rarely work because a scared adult cat will not let strangers catch them. 🔟 Family/Neighbors: If you suspect someone took the cat away because they didn't like them or have a personal feud with you, try talking to them. If they confess, go look for the cat in the exact place where they were dropped off. 🚨 The most important thing: SPAY/NEUTER YOUR CAT AND KEEP THEM INDOORS. The streets are deadly. Saying "my cat always comes back" is just gambling with their life until they get hit by a car, poisoned, or attacked. 📱 Check all groups: Monitor Facebook groups for lost pets, even outside your local area (sometimes people relocate them). If you see a cat that looks like yours, reach out anyway, even if the listed age/ doesn't match. Ask for videos. Non-experts easily mistake these details. Don't lose hope. 🙏 Copy and share with anyone who needs this. Credits: Giuliana Torres Garcia.MSA

A cat that looks like this one is at the adoption center in the Lawndale shopping center Pet Smart in Greensboro. If I stop up there over the weekend I’ll snap a photo

Alexis Michelle I have a escape artist. My daughter cat. This would be what he would probably do. I half to watch him like a hawk. I take him out to eat grass, and walk him around. It seems to help a lot

Sherry Marshall Holland Correlation does not imply causation. Just because the cat came back after they put out the litter doesn’t mean the litter caused the cat to come back. Animal behavior experts state that most lost indoor domestic cats go into hiding mode when lost outside because they are afraid. Look it up and you’ll find a lot of experts say the same thing. No cat litter outside. Cat litter will more than likely backfire and attract feral cats and not the indoor cat. Now have a nice day! 😉

Alexis Michelle Okay! Well my grand-daughters cat came back. Are you a expert?

Sherry Marshall Holland this is a myth. Putting cat litter out will actually attract feral and more territorial cats who could drive away the indoor cat who is most likely hiding nearby. Do not put out cat litter or advise people to do so.
