Maaike Erents I will call tomorrow morning to see. she was definitely someone’s dog though, she was extremely friendly and taken care of. i do not think her injuries were too extreme.

Kenzie Sherman Please ask the Lafayette shelter to 100% update you if there is any talk of euthanasia. If possible call them in the morning. It’s happened so many times before that someone called an animal in that was in need of medical help and/or the animal very malnourished and the shelter is full and just euthanized the dog within a few hours even though the finder called the shelter for HELP, not for the dog to die. 😞 If we know that that is what they’re thinking of doing we can connect with rescues and organizations like MardiPaws to get the dog out of the shelter and give them a second chance. Please keep us posted if you hear any updates 🙏

Melissa Maeker Well sometimes the shelter will just put the animal down if they don’t have the in-house means to help. Their vet care is very limited. I will never forget the day a lady called for a malnourished dog that she was very worried about, that dog could still stand up and eat when she found it and the shelter euthanized her within several hours of arrival. Don’t get me wrong in general they’re a good shelter but I will never forget this situation when we were desperately trying to reach the shelter to not let that happen and tried to connect with a rescue to get her out and we were too late; by the time we were able to get ahold of the shelter the dog was already dead. It was heartbreaking, also for the finder. little trauma memory popping up here…
