FOR LOST AND FOUND ANIMALS IF YOU HAVE LOST YOUR PET: Go to Facebook pages “Track My Paws”, check ads and pictures! “Alabama Lost and Found Pets” and “Alabama Pet Rescue” are 2 other Facebook pages to check. While on these pages, join and post your missing pet. 1) Make a post on your home page. The post should be PUBLIC and allow anyone to comment. You can get info out side your friend circle. 2) Make copies of a picture of your pet with pet’s info and your contact information. VISIT pounds, shelters, animal control IN PERSON, leave your picture with info. Visit every few days. These facilities’ staff members are maxed out and a phone call is often not followed up on. 3) Also take these pics with info to local postal carriers, groomers, vets. 4) If you can afford a reward, it doesn’t hurt. Many finders will turn them down! 5) Not everyone is online. Make durable posters to put up through your area, busy intersections, groceries, gas stations, etc If you’ve lost your pet, thinking of you with compassion and best hopes to find them. IF YOU HAVE FOUND AN ANIMAL: 1) Secure the animal to a safe place if at all possible. 2) Go to the Facebook pages mentioned above and post the animal as found with picture and your contact information. If you are unable to secure animal, post ad with picture and last place animal seen. 3) Any vet office will scan the animal for free for an identifying chip. 4) Any animal found must have a waiting status of 7 days to allow for owner location and identification BEFORE giving animal away. 5) Please DO NOT POST ANIMAL AS FREE TO GOOD HOME! Small puppies and kittens are especially vulnerable to be used as live food for large reptiles. These small animals and larger animals are often used as bait dogs to train fighting dogs. 6)Please check veterinary references and charge a small rehoming fee. 7) If impossible to secure animal or locate owner, please call local shelter, rescue or humane society. Animal will be off the street, be fed and owner more likely to find. If you’ve found an animal, bless your kind heart for caring. THINK YOUR ANIMAL HAS BEEN STOLEN: (after steps above) One (only one…there are many) flea market where dogs are sold at flea markets..”Ripleys First Monday” on Facebook. Many backyard bred as well as “found” dogs are reported sold there, especially small dogs, pit bulls and expensive breeds. Another Facebook site “Stop First Mondays Dog Yard” where visitor to the market have taken pics of some of the dogs there for sale. There is another large flea market in Collinsville, AL where animals are sold every Saturday during the spring and summer. PET MISSING FOR EXTENDED TIME: (after above steps) If your pet has been missing for an extended period of time, they might have ended up in a rescue or shelter awaiting adoption.I am attaching 3 huge adoption sites, for your use to see if you can spot your lost baby. It never hurts to look for them at these sites for your long term lost pets. https.www.adoptapet.com https.petfinder.com https.lostpetcolove.com IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO ADOPT OR FOSTER, PLEASE GO TO YOUR LOCAL RESCUES AND SHELTERS…they are overloaded and the staff and animals would appreciate it!
