Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. (Note: if anyone asks for money or a code as “they have your pet,” this is a scam). https://www.pawboost.com/blog/7-effective-search-tips-for-finding-your-lost-cat/ Lost cat YouTube video: https://youtu.be/g2eCoC63B9I?si=J2FOyI36PtuOzQJG

Debkins Gilstrapthank you! We been searching for days. We have 11 rescue cats and Puffy Tail and Crooked Tail ( he has a broken tail ) (brothers) were living in a parking lot their first year of life. He had outside experience but he's been indoors only for 3 yrs. I put his liter box and food outside with his blanket. His brother is so sad. We are about to post picture of him around my area. Thank you so much for your response!

Put some of your worn socks outside. Check with the neighbors to see if the cat might be in their garage or shed. Walk around the area and take some food with you to lure the cat out in case you see or hear the cat. Post pictures of the cat around the area and on the Nextdoor app. Check with the shelters, Craigslist and newspaper.

🙏🙏🙏....Immediately file a missing animal report to (Pet Recovery services) on Facebook . They specialize in animal tracking and helped me find mine in less than two days after I texted them. Give them a try hopefully, they can assist you in getting your pet back as soon as possible.https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61564462251900&mibextid=ZbWKwL

Scared cats generally stay close to home. Check your property thoroughly and talk to your neighbors. You may want to set up a trap and a camera outside to see if he is coming around at night. Cats act differently when they are outside and scared. A friend caught her lost cat on her camera but he wouldn't come to the door, so she had to set up a trap. If you think he can't find his way home, set up a scent station for him. Good luck.
