Tara L Anthony hi, thanks for the reply. I knocked on the doors in the immediate vicinity of where the cat is. No luck there. I will try to take it to a local vet. I also called animal services to file a report

You cannot just be given a cat that has been found. First it needs to be seen if it has a microchip which any vet can do. All efforts to find owners, and if no owners are found, working with a rescue for adoption.
