Message from Owner

My cat went missing near Oak Knoll Rd in Poway. He’s a gray tabby with black stripes and a white belly. He’s super sweet but might be a little scared if someone new tries to approach him. We miss him so much! He’s part of our family. Please check around your yard, grge, or porch in case he’s hiding. If you see him or think you have, please message or call me. We just want him safe.Thank you ❤️

🐾 So sad to see so many kitties go missing 30+ just this weekend. Poor baby, he must be so scared and hungry out on his own! When a cat goes missing, they can’t easily find their way home using only their scent. You must be proactive and look for them. 🔦 Look under yours & your neighbor’s bushes & hedges, look for glowing eyes w/flashlight, call him early evening when it’s quiet and they come out from hiding to eat. Posting is important, but please be proactive and search for him, too. They don’t go far 3-4 houses away, they stay in one place until they are scared off by dogs, coyotes, or loud equipment. The challenge is finding him before he runs further way. 📣 Please hang flyers near the area where he went missing, it’ll get the immediate attention from pedestrians and drivers. Let your neighbors know you’re looking for him. Good luck finding this adorable little guy-this is coyote country. You’re the one that can bring him home safely, he will recognize your voice and your scent. gorgeous little guy 💙 Post on ND, check SDHS Lost & Found daily. If you’re able to find him, please don’t let him out unattended. Cats have the intelligence of a 3yo, they don’t know the dangers, they face outdoors with coyotes, dogs, cars, and worst of all evil people who don’t like them in their yard. It only takes an hour to train a cat on a leash, then he can be outdoors safely with you.

My indoor only male black cat got out once. put out all the scents. Old blankets, our unwashed clothes, his scratch post, his empty dirty litter box, vacuum dust etc. My nextdoor neighbor would see him trying to return during the day while we were at work. Then get scared and run off into nearby woods. I started setting my alarm for 3am while it was quiet and go out calling him. Finally after 5 days I heard him crying in very thick bushes Nextdoor to our house. I saw his eyes with my flashlight. I had to literally crawl to get him. He was like afraid to move. I finally got him . They usually don’t travel far. They will hunker down close by.

Notify San Diego Humane at 619-299-7012.select option 1. Go to your animal shelter to check for your cat/file a report. Please have your neighbors check their garages, sheds and vegetation. Ppen your garage door or a window just enough for your cat to slide underneath.

Most indoor cats will stay very close to home, but they will go into hiding because they go into survival mode, especially during the day. If it’s at all possible for you to put some recently worn clothing, bedding, a cat tree, if your cat has one near a open door window or garage where the cat will have access to return home, they usually will do it between midnight and 3 AM in the morning. Do not put a litter box out because that will attract other predators such as coyotes, raccoons, skunks, etc. At night time, you can also take a flashlight looking under cars in trees and bushes Taking with you a bag of treats if your cat is treat motivated, calling its name softly staying low to the ground, shaking the bag and using the flashlight to possibly light up your cats eyes. Sometimes they can stay in hiding for days so don’t give up. Hope these tips help and that you’re beautiful. Cat returns home safely and soon🙏🐈‍⬛❤️ don’t give up sometimes they can stay in hiding for over a week until they get really hungry, especially when a lot of commotion is going on during the daytime
