🚨 SCAM ALERT: Lost Dog Ransom Extortion 🚨Please watch out for a heartless scam targeting lost pet owners in our area. If you are searching for a missing pet, do not let these people trick you.The Numbers Used: (321) 272-8906 and (323) 594-3838The Tactic: They text you out of the blue claiming they have your dog and demand immediate digital payments (like $200 upfront and $200 upon delivery) to "keep him safe."The Trap: They ask what you are wearing to lure you out to a local retail store or parking lot to meet up.The Proof of Fake: They use fake, stolen internet photos of dogs inside crates as "proof." When firmly asked to provide a current photo holding up a piece of paper with today's date written on it, they freeze up, refuse, and disappear.Protect yourself and your pets:NEVER send money upfront via CashApp, Venmo, Zelle, or gift cards.NEVER go to a meetup alone or to a location they dictate. Insist on meeting inside a local police station lobby.Demand airtight proof of life (a unique photo with a handwritten date) before talking about any rewards. Please share this to keep our community safe and shut these criminals down!

🐾 If you haven't already (these are some suggestions, as you may have already done some of these and some suggestions may not pertain to your situation). If chipped....Immediately alert the chip company and make sure your info is UTD. File a lost report with local shelters. Go there in person on a regular basis. Post on Next Door and PawBoost. Ignore the pay prompts for PawBoost. Download Ring app and ask neighbors to check their footage. Let the postman know, as they know most of the people on their routes. You don’t have to have a Ring doorbell. Put clothes, towels, bedding that smells like you on your porch. Post on as many Lost and Found sites on FB as possible. Do not duplicate posts on the pages as this loses the thread. Dogs usually head north, for some reason, so look in that direction. But obviously check everywhere. Put up clear, simple and brightly colored signs all around the area. Put a sign in your yard with a picture and your phone number. Walk the neighborhood and put flyers on everyone's door. Immediately put out your dog's bed, and some of YOUR dirty clothes (dirty socks are nice and stinky)/blankets (dry in dryer first to enhance smell). Contact all local animal shelters, vets and groomers in your area. Check Craigslist in your area. Some people still put there. Look under found pets or pets for sale. If you live at an Apt complex ask the office mgr to send an email to all tenants, it could be someone that lives there picked him up. Walk don't drive around looking for your baby. The car may muffle your voice 🐾
