This isn’t the turtle one of the neighbors lost. Theirs is more tan and I think is called a sand turtle. This one looks like a snapping turtle. They are common in Colorado. Especially near rivers, lakes and creeks. I see them around often. Saw this guy in windsor along the trail just last week. They really are fun to see!

Kristie Magnuski This is for Rosie the giant tortoise! The turtle I found doesn't fit the description or type as Rosie unfortunately :(

AE Nash Oh neat! I was noticing the wild species seemed to have smoother shells. I didn't realize that had anything to do with their living environment.

Lauren Vitti No native species look like this. Pyramiding suggests it has been in captivity for a while.

I don't know my turtles for beans, so I'm probably totally off base...but given it's size, are you certain it's not just a baby wild turtle?
