FOUND SENIOR FEMALE DOG – WILSON BLVD / WAWA/WALMART AREA (JACKSONVILLE) Please help us find this sweet senior girl’s family. She was found on Monday, 5/18, crossing busy Wilson Blvd toward the Wawa near Walmart. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan stopped and got her to safety.She was immediately taken to a vet and scanned for a microchip. The vet has contacted the information associated with the chip, and we are currently waiting to hear back from the registered owner. Due to privacy policies, the vet cannot release any personal information.The finder also searched the surrounding area and attempted to locate her owners, but no one was found. Because the finder has other dogs and was unable to keep her overnight, she was brought to me for temporary safekeeping. I was unable to take her to the shelter today because I am babysitting my nieces, but I will be taking her tomorrow to begin the official stray hold with the help of another volunteer if her owners have not come forward. She appears to be a senior Golden Retriever mix, approximately 50–60 pounds, and she is not wearing a collar or tags. She is an unspayed female and has a growth on her stomach and what looks to be fatty tissue on her side. Her nails are short, she appears well-fed, and she is incredibly sweet and gentle. Since arriving, she has spent most of her time sleeping and decompressing. She is very quiet and has only barked when my own dogs barked. She seems friendly and interested in meeting them. It has been about 10 hours since she was first posted, and no owner has come forward yet. She is far too sweet and well cared for for me to believe she is not being missed. I am also reaching out to rescues as a backup plan in case her owners do not come forward or indicate that they no longer want her. My goal is to keep this precious senior girl out of the shelter if at all possible. If you recognize this dog or know who she belongs to, please message me immediately.
