Message from Finder

A yellow and green bird was located by the Marin blvd lightrail. Tried to pick it up since it seemed scared but it flew away into the tree that’s located RIGHT OUTSIDE the physical therapy in the corner of Morris Blvd and Morris Street.

Colleen Wolfe hard to say for sure what kind of migratory bird without a clearer view of the head but in any case doesn’t look like a pet.

Hi, this is not a pet bird. It is a warbler - looks like a Common Yellowthroat. Warblers travel through the city during spring and fall migration and sadly often collide with buildings because they don’t register reflective glass as a barrier. Jersey City Birds works with a team of volunteers that rescue injured migratory birds and collects data on dead ones. This one was likely stunned. It may fly off. If it can be reached, it should be transported to wildlife rehab- either Raptor Trust or Wild Bird Fund - to assess for injury. Thank you for caring.
