She/he could easily have ventured further than normal from being scared off from either prey or loud noises pushing her/him away from where it’s familiar. Try going outside their usual perimeter and placing things that smell of home (like shreds of a blanket or shirt, or vacuum bag contents) trailing back to your area that she/he knows. If indoor only… Checking neighbors backyard properties is crucial. (Neighbors will not check as thoroughly as you will, or at all, so ask them if you can check) Indoor cats will hide quickly after getting outside. Check under bushes and remember, when afraid, they won’t respond to you calling them. Someone in my area had their cat get out and she found him 3 and a half weeks later only 4 houses away hiding in a backyard under patio furniture. The only reason he was detected was because the lady who lived there happened to look out her window and see him under the table in the backyard and recalled seeing the lost cat notice on our community FB page. -put out (unwashed) cat bed/blankets/your clothes that smell of home -put up posters in your area- important-not everyone is on facebook + if someone sees your cat but cannot find your lost cat post -leave a basement window or garage door open enough they can get in.

STELLA is beautiful. Now let’s find her. She will be very nervous and likely hiding not far from your home. When you’re out searching this evening take a flashlight with you. The light will shine off her eyes and makes it easier to locate her. Look under every veranda and bush and any tiny place she may be hiding. Ask your neighbours to search their garage and under their porch or perhaps they will allow you to. She may have also climbed up a tree, so look there as well. Take a bag of treats and shake them while calmly calling her name. Put up posters and contact shelters in your area every 3 days to see if she has been turned in. If you haven’t yet gotten her micro chipped, please do, so should this happen again she can be returned to you. GOOD LUCK ❤

If this is an indoor only cat that never goes out, look close. Indoor only cats when lost get scared and hide because it is unknown territory and usually do not come out when you call. Usually are within 3 or 4 houses . Put out something with your scent such as a piece of clothing or blanket. Call at dusk, dawn and night and shake the treats. Get in your neighbour's yards and look under decks, sheds, in trees, bushes or anywhere they can hide. Put up lots of posters. I know this is not ideal, but if you can, leave your door open a little bit and put out your worn clothing and some food. We did this and our cat came home in the middle of the night after missing for 3 days.

Put out your worn clothing and her bed / blanket - if she is disoriented, the scent will help her find her way home. Go out in the early hours of the morning and shake the treat bag and call her name quietly. Take a flashlight as her eyes will shine. Crack the garage door and/or house window so she can make her way inside if she comes home. Make posters and flyers and get them up and out asap! Call all the vets and shelters in your area -- keep checking with Animal Services to see if anyone took her in or reported a sighting. Post on the Nextdoor app. Hopefully she is microchipped and someone takes her in to be scanned. Good luck, I hope you find her! 😿

Pls check w all your neighbors to let them know u r missing your cat. Ask to check all sheds porches etc. And bushes. Usually they don't go far at first. Timing is essential. Posters help too. Go out at night with flashlight and shine into dark area. Eyes will reflect light. Bring fave treats. Do not put out litter. You can put out kitties bedding or your clothes/blankets during the day.Litter can attract tomcats or other animals attracted to the scent. Your kitty could be close but these animals could scare him and then he might go further away to get out of danger. It's not recommended anymore for these reasons.
