Becki Holt I have been leaving one door a crack at night and put cat food and water there and other cats came into and eat out the food. not sure if other cats' often visiting around my house will scare my missing cat Sunny away while he closes to mu house?

Jan Driscoll Thank you! I have been leaving one door a crack at night and put cat food and water there but other cats came into and eat out the food. I have not tried a trapper around my house because I might be trap other cats or wild animals, such as Raccoons and coyotes. not sure if I can try this method? My sunny has been missing 73 days till today, and I miss him so much! I just feel like my heart has gone away with him. 😿😿

Gab Kosak Thanks for your tips, I have tried most but I don't dare put food at night outside because there are Raccoons and coyotes around my area.

If your cat is an indoor cat, it will be scared and won’t come when called. Try placing their used litter outside. At night, use a flashlight to check under your and your neighbors' bushes and decks for the reflection of your cat's eyes. Additionally, consider setting up a humane trap as soon as possible, as it's one of the most effective methods for finding lost cats. You can bait the trap with strong-smelling sardines. These traps can be purchased at local hardware stores or borrowed from animal shelters. While this approach might seem drastic, remember that lost pets often enter survival mode and behave differently. Be sure to research how to use a humane trap effectively. Make sure to visit local animal shelters in person and look for your missing kitty, and post flyers within a one-mile radius of where your kitty went missing. There are also many valuable resources available online if you search for "how to find your missing cat." Important Note: Be cautious of scåmmers who may claim they have found your cat or offer drøne services. It's best not to engage with them.

I left my back door open overnight and my cat was at my bedside in the middle of the night. They are so skiddish, it’s sad.

Please read till the end..Walk around calling your cat as you always do. Look under bushes and in hiding places. Look at dawn and dusk with a flashlight to catch the glare of your cat's eyes. Leave garage door and lanai partially open if possible. Your cat will try to get back inside ..most likely at night. Use a trap...The only way to find his way home.or to the trap is by smell. Use some of your used clothes, put them outside and around the trap. A friend of mine used her shirt and dragged it through the neighborhood. Her cat found the smell and followed it home. It is all about the smell. You can also cut a shirt of yours into small small pieces and leave a scent trail back to the trap. I read a few days ago that a lady put out a trace with the old litter throughout the neighborhood. It worked. Her cat came home! Use the litter to lead your cat to the trap. Also try to distribute flyers throughout that neighborhood...as many as you can ( 3 miles radius at least). Check shelters in person...don't just call. Put battery operated trail cameras outside. Your cat might show up in the middle of the night. When you know the time you can wait for for your cat and slow blink to make contact. NEVER GIVE UP! I read once that you can put a chair outside and cover it up with a blanket and the cat can jump up and hide under the blanket and feels safe. They said you should put one of your shirts under the blanket and food and water next to the chair. It might be worth a try to put up a chair

Search at night with a flashlight (eyes will glow) up in trees and inside and under things on your property and up to three or four houses away. Cats normally stay pretty close to home. You can put something with the smell of the cat, or the scent of home, out on the porch. Put up missing cat posters, check with your neighbors, post on all local social media groups, and check with animal control every week. Leave your garage door up enough to allow the cat entry. You can also try searching early morning, before dawn, calling his/her name and carrying and open can of tuna or cat food. Hunger sometimes lures them out of hiding. Don't forget to check places like crawl spaces, garages, and sheds.
