Stray Cat Sighting in Las Vegas, NV 89108

Description

Long-haired cat, est age 1-5yr but young looking face up close. Light green/hazel eyes (maybe dark/dirty yellow?). Fur is dark brown w light splotches similar to tortoiseshell pattern. Splotches are small specks of white and light brown/orange. Bright neon pink collar. Pink name tag, heart shaped but a little worn down. Super fluffy tail, seems well groomed and taken care of. Average weight, not malnourished looking and seemed decently fed/cared for.

Hi! I’m not sure when/if she got out from someone in the same neighborhood or someone nearby or if not she’s traveled a bit. Or if she even “got out” at all? Basically for 4th of July I went to visit my mom at her apmt. When I was leaving (around 3am) I saw this cat sitting a building over! I checked if she was a stray, I saw a collar. Cats don’t care about gender tho lol so I’m just assuming it’s a girl based on the collar color and her face shape. I started calling, she’s obviously people friendly because she stayed and let me approach her and hangout with her a few feet away— close enough to describe her appearance but just barely too far to get a read on what’s on her tag—each time I tried to get closer to read her tag was when she would get up and move but she let me walk with her at a distance. She’s docile, she seemed well groomed and cared for, well fed but on the streets out here I know she’ll get skinnier without food especially in the heat too. I left to go home and pick up my crate but when I came back she was gone. I came back later that day (the 5th) to check— she was still there! and this time there is another cat with her too! (Seen behind her in the photo—this one looks to be a Tuxedo male around the same age with no collar. He either is lost with her or is a friend/mate/guide she picked up while out, but he stayed by her in a guarding manner the entire time this time when I approached her again. I stayed at a distance again and tried to once again get closer to read her tag, they weren’t having it and both got up and he lead her away behind the building where I couldnt see/reach them anymore. What im hoping for is that, even if I disagree tbh with the choice, the owner is someone who is in this complex who just like- ya know- let’s her in/out and she’s partially outdoors cat? And maybe they’re just letting her in/out and I ‘caught’ her on one of her out times??? Idk how that stuff works I’m used to indoor only cats. BUT if it’s not that than that means the situation is obviously that she’s lost and if that’s the case idk how long for but I just dealt with some strife of *almost* losing my own cat when my roommate nearly let her out a month ago so I know the poor owner is stressed and upset each day just wanting their fur baby to get home and I’d like to help if that’s the case. It’s my first time helping with a lost cat as well :( I have a crate and supplies to catch her (and maybe the other one), since I already have my own cat at home in my small apmt, and I’m busy getting my new jobs settled and then preparing for a move and all this other stuff at once- I can probably only hold her/them for literally just a day or two maybe 3 max. I have friends/connects who can maybe take her for longer afterwards or spend more effort at least to get her home but I can do the most possible with what I have on hand. As of now it is the 8th, I’m going back over tonight with my crate and catch supplies. If she’s still here I can try my hardest to get her and then have her safe and fed for at least a bit longer instead of this heat. Hopefully it’s just someone letting her in and out but I have doubts. IF YOU RECOGNIZE HER (OR THE OTHER CAT WITH HER) pls call and text the number I’ve provided it will immediately go to me, if I have her/them caught by then (it’ll be easier bc I can read her tag and contact the owner first immediately) LET ME KNOW ACCURATE IDENTIFYING INFO FOR THE CAT(S) and if I already have her I can give her right to you and if I haven’t seen/caught her by then I’ll keep trying to check/catch her for/with you unless she’s already gone from the area but I also doubt that bc her and the other cat seem safe/to like it right here. Thank you for taking the time to read! I just care about pets and cats and animals and a lost pet is devastating in my opinion. Hopefully she already has a good home and I’m making assumptions and she just gets outside time or something. If it’s not that than that means there’s a good home somewhere that she got away from and needs to get back to asap an I’m trynna make that happen.
