They usually don’t venture far. It’s probably scared & hiding near by in bushes or an open garage. Most kitties will stay put in their safe hiding spot. ( if they’re not fixed they can wonder further, depends on circumstances) Ask neighbors to check their sheds, decks, garages. They usually venture out at night after 24-48hrs when they start getting hungry. The “witching” hour when they come out is 3am. If you see your pet, don’t try to grab it, it’s still on survival mode and will run. Just sit down maybe with some treats and let your pet come to you. (Remember, never put the litterbox outside. Other cats will mark it & scare your cat away. Just in case, also set some humane traps near by, hide them in the bushes where your pet might hide. Good luck & don’t lose hope. Pray to St Anthony, he hasn’t let me down. 🙏🏻🐾

Oh! She was pushing a stroller with cats. I see. And is she a rescuer? Are you seeing stray cats in that area?

Da Lin She actually had two kittens and a grown long haired, beautiful black cat in a stroller you can train them early and not still sit in that baby stroller

Lorraine Seber What does "strolling a few cats" mean? Is this a person that does rescue in the area?

Shubh Mathur Yes. I recommend that people open the door (while home and awake to monitor) but get out of the threshold. Shake treats or open a can of food from another room. The cat will hear it, but a cat, even if it knows it's home and owner, might hesitate to walk through the door if someone is standing in the doorway. They are funny that way!

Look down the street of Rankin Avenue. There is a young black cat twice. I’ve seen it this week on the porch similar to two black cats. I took care of one. I still have he lives outdoors as far as I know, but there’s a woman near you pause for a budget or budget for pause. You could find her on Facebook. See if she collected any. She was strolling a few cats today. Good luck.

Most lost cats come home/ are found between midnight-5 am so that’s a good time to look. Door to door with flyers in the area and flyers with nearby vets and shelters really helps. If sighted, It’s better not to chase, lost cats are even more skittish and spooked outside and will even run from their owners. If possible, it’s better to sit at ground level and talk in a normal voice, which will bring them closer to you. Even better, bring some food, smellier the better - tuna, shrimp, rotisserie chicken. If you can safely leave a door or window cracked open specially at night, the cat might walk back in. They can get locked by mistake in sheds garages and bats, ask neighbors to check and if they can leave doors open for a while. A frightened cat in hiding probably won’t come out when people are around.
