Message from Finder

Is anyone able to confirm if this is a stray or an outdoor cat? I saw a post in another group from about 5 days ago asking the same. It’s at lake Wabacayne closest to Erin mills parkway hanging out under the bench. Very affectionate

Rescues are mostly full. The best option would be to secure this and any cat you find. Bring them to an extra bathroom or even a “catio” enclosure (plenty on Amazon) and put in your garage, etc. you can take to a vet to scan for a microchip. And later contact rescues if he doesn’t have a home. If full, call 311. Animal services will pick him up, vet him, look for owner and later post for adoption. It’s debateable if 311 is a good option in the long run but in short term it gets an animal care and out of the dangers of the outside ie coyotes, cats, sick people

Hi that was kind of you, please remember that there are a couple of different microchips now, not sure if your reader will scan all of the chips. Not sure why they changed this, it makes it more difficult for the folks who want to help but may have an outdated reader, or not the right one to pick up the chip. I learned about this at the animal shelter, just recently as my black kitty is missing in Caledon East.

If this cat is friendly, why doesn't someone try to secure it

That area has a coyote den. Dangerous place for a cat. Lots of song birds

I have a Microchip Reader and went by this Bench in front of the Diversion around 1pm today and walked all around the area and did not see the Cat. I was hoping maybe s/he is owned by someone in the Houses backing onto the Trail there. There are Coyotes that frequent that area.
