Lola Way - DON’T hire anyone from any links that are suggested. ASK US FIRST!! There’s many of us involved in rescue that can suggest ‘legit’ services. You don’t need to get scammed and there’s many doing it saying they have your dog even using AI to create photos with the dog appearing to be in a clinic. Others may not use a photo but say the dog is at a clinic but call the clinic. DON’T give money no matter how truthful it sounds because they know owners are desperate! There’s groups on facebook but I know many are scammers. They’re not in the Houston area but they’ll make up for it by saying they have teams on standby everywhere. It’s a LIE. And they have too-good-to-be-true prices way lower that legit services would charge just to get a few quick dollars. Owners are desperate but please don’t fall for any of those! Ask us first if you get contacted. There’s a group @Rescue/Foster/Network Animals of Houston that you can ask about drones, trackers, etc. and get legit referral from locals and the moderators won’t allow scammers on threads.

Lola Way - One important thing is to put flyers all around your area first to alert neighbors and passerby’s that your searching. It’s often resulted in a dog being just a street or two away around someone’s home. They’ll often be found resting at a fence line ‘between two houses’ where they’re away from everyone and harder to see if laying down. My last one I trapped was resting between them and raised up when he heard noise from a small contraption I often use. One thing you could do though is play YouTube puppy crying sounds as you slowly drive or walk by and have the passenger be looking closely.
