40 pound Desert Tortoise

Message from Finder

We found this gal/guy roaming the neighborhood, crossing a busy residential street. I knocked on doors and no one had a pet tortoise or wasn’t . I know someone is missing this baby. Or, maybe she woke up from brumating. She is safe in our side yard but I really don’t know how long we can tortoise sit since we travel. I’ll put up signs tomorrow. If you k ow who this belongs to, please let me know and give me some thing to identify her.

I am thinking that is a sulcata tortoise. And it is someone's pet as it appears to be well taken care of. A gate could have been left open.

It's unlikely but the elementary school Sirrine has a tortoise. I don't see how she would've gotten all the way across the big road, but it's worth a check.
