🚨 LOST DOG – WHAT TO DO IMMEDIATELY TO HELP BRING YOUR DOG HOME 🚨 If your dog is missing, follow these critical steps right away: 🏠 Bring Them Home with Scent and Access • Hang dirty laundry (T-shirts, socks, shoes) high on a fence or branch to allow the wind to carry the scent - use items worn by the person your dog is most bonded with. • Dogs can smell home from miles away - your scent can guide them back. • Leave an access point open such as a cracked garage or front door in case they return. • Sleep near the front door if possible - your presence may help them feel safe enough to come back. • If you have other pets, keep them secured in a separate room. 📣 Post Signs & Notify Everyone • Make signs with a clear photo and your contact info. • Put signs everywhere - on poles, street corners, and especially on doorsteps in the neighborhood. • Ask neighbors to check security cameras (e.g., Ring) for sightings. 🌐 Spread the Word Online • Post on local: • Lost & Found Facebook groups • Nextdoor • PawBoost • Ring Neighbors app • Include your contact info, dog’s name, and location last seen. 🐶 Microchip & Shelter Alerts • If your dog is microchipped, notify the chip company immediately and mark your pet as lost. • Call ALL nearby animal shelters and rescues, and leave a detailed voicemail if no one answers. Follow up daily. ⚠️ Beware of Scams • Do NOT send money or provide any verification codes. • Scammers often pretend to have your pet and demand payment. • A real finder will be happy to help and won’t ask for money.

Get your scent out in front of the house - use dirty worn laundry to do this - hang it out high so the smell can travel and guide the dog back home. Keep an access point open in case the dog returns. Please post signs with the dog’s picture and your contact information. Post signs all over so if someone spots your dog and there is no ID on him/her the person can contact you. Ask your neighbors to check their outdoor cameras, yards, bushes and garages. Call OC Animal Shelter to report your dog as missing in case someone calls in with a matching description and ask if animal services has picked up your dog already. Go to the shelter in person. Also post your dog on Nextdoor, Pawboost & Ring. Prayers that your dog is found soon and safely.🙏🏻❤️🐾
