Check The Animal Foundation Lost & Found Search and 24Petconnect every day. Photos can be delayed, and descriptions may be imperfect, so look at every similar animal, not just exact breed or color matches. The Animal Foundation often does not immediately upload new intakes on websites. Some animals may not be listed at all. The Desk Staff often are not aware of all the dogs and cats that are in the kennels. Bring your receipt of the vaccinations that your dog (cat) has had with you when you go to The Animal Foundation to look for your pet. Notify your microchip company that your dog or cat is missing. Leave scent items outside Put out the pet’s bedding, your worn clothing, and water. For cats, place familiar bedding near the door or garage. Avoid leaving large amounts of food unattended if it may attract coyotes or other animals. 11. For lost cats: search quietly at night Cats often hide silently nearby. Go out late evening or early morning with a flashlight; shine under cars, bushes, porches, sheds, and block walls. Bring smelly food, but stay quiet and patient. 12. For lost dogs: ask for sightings, not chasing Tell neighbors: “Please do not chase. Please take a photo if possible and call immediately with the exact location and direction of travel.” Chasing can push a scared dog farther away. 13. When your pet is found Update every post as REUNITED, remove flyers, notify shelters and vets, and make sure the pet has a collar, ID tag, license, and updated microchip. Henderson requires dogs and cats over four months old to be microchipped and licensed. Most Important Reminder Do not give up after one day. Many pets are found days, weeks, or even longer after going missing. Keep checking shelters, online listings, and neighborhood posts every single day.
