—Put your cell number on all posts.
—Call microchip company and report lost. Make sure your info is up-to-date.
—Call your fur baby, especially, in the evening (7-10 pm or so) and early in the morning (before 6 am) when there isn’t much traffic. Call at intervals from home and your chosen search areas. REPEAT and give time to come.
—Drive around in your vehicles during this time, as well. They typically know familiar engine sounds. REPEAT and give time to come.
—An idea that we do in our neighborhood on occasion:
Print his/her pic and info (with name and breed, a couple of words he/she knows, and your number) in very large font on 8.5 x 11 pieces of card stock paper (preferrably white, neon yellow or neon green). The less words (and larger), the better.
Place each paper in a plastic sheet cover so that opening is at bottom.
Then staple bottom two or three times (with opening at bottom so that moisture can't enter.) Tape or staple to windows, signs, trees.
—Leave treats that he/she likes.
—Leave pieces of clothes and/or fabric of any kind with scent of home strewn along sparsely in areas.
—Designate volunteers or friends to check a couple of animal shelters daily for you.
—Send a pic and info to local animal shelter.
—When you see the animal, squat or sit to be at eye level. Speak gently. Have treats handy.
