For Lost cat do immediately Cats do not wander far from home. Try putting some of your dirty clothes outside sometimes a familiar smell helps them find their way home, even their cat bed. Put water out but no food. Cats usually don't go far.. They hunker down in the daytime especially in the heat and come out at night. Put up fliers talk to neighbors check under shrubs, sheds anywhere it is quiet and safe and would make a good hiding place... Check at night with flashlight don't give up💕sharing with prayers. Make sure he isn't locked in a neighbors garage. Dusk and Dawn walk neighborhood shaking a treat bag calling his name. Sending prayers🙏 There is controversy about putting dirty kitty litter box out, some say "Their" smell attracts other animals(coyotes etc) and others say it helps the cat find it's way home. Your call on this. If microchipped check info to make sure current and ask company to flag as Missing/Lost. Don't give up❤️Post on your local NEXTDOOR. Since they don’t go far possibly a neighbor has seen. Put up flyers

It often can take several days for a scared kitty to return, many believe these tips can truly help*** Definitely post to the local app Next-door for better local exposure to neighbors Definitely Do Not put out a litter box or litter, litter has been used for years to attract coyotes which we have a ton of throughout Florida. Try putting out used pillow cases, worn t-shirts with ur scent & some even suggest sprinkling ur vacuum contents around outside. It's normal for them to hide & come out after dark when there's less people so go out after dark with a bright flashlight and look for shining eyes, shake treats or anything that creates a sound ur kitty may recognize & try to go out several times throughout the night if possible, that's most likely when u will see them. If u can, leave a door or window cracked for them to hopefully sneak back in when they feel safe to venture out. If u can't leave anything open, maybe leave a smaller box outside ur door with a blanket & a camera that alerts is great

Linda Rager Woitas unfortunately, the litter will also attract other cats and even coyotes, they can put out dirty t-shirts for a safer option

When ours disappeared we put out his litter box outside and he found his way back home after 5 days. They say they can follow their scent to find their way home. I hope this helps. Good luck

When my orange Persian got out, accidently, I did huge posters and put up at the end of each road near me. Four days later, I got a call saying she was under their decking. Their children had seen the poster & mystery about the kitty was solved. It turned out that she was over in the subdivision next to us. They get very scared when lost so when I got there she would not come to me. I told the owner to get his hose and start start the water right behind her. It worked as each water squirt down, she would crawl a litter closer to the end eventually right into my arms!

My cat disappeared for several days. When I took my nightly walk, I would softly call for him. One night he answered. I continue to talk to him and follow his voice. He was up in a tree. When I got close, he jumped into my arms and didn’t scratch me. Don’t give up. 😽

Lost cat Protocol Cat is close. When cats escape they are usually afraid. Therefore, they normally, hunker down and hide very close to home. They will usually only venture out a short way if they don’t find a food source. Once they find food, they will normally stay in that area. Most cats are creatures of habit and will keep coming back to the place they find food. You need to search for the cat nightly using an LED flashlight. This is important!!! It must be a bright LED flashlight. 400 lumens or stronger. (This is VERY IMPORTANT!) You can get one at Harbor Freight or WalMart for about 15.00. A regular flashlight isn’t bright enough. It has to be LED and at least 400 lumens. Go out nightly. Especially later when it gets very quiet. 12 AM or later around 2 AM is a good time. That is when cats prowl. Also, before dawn. Look for glowing green eyes. All cats eyes will glow green at night when you use an LED flashlight. Sometimes you have to bend down to catch the glow of the eyes at a certain angle. You must look under cars, in bushes, street gutters, etc. Anywhere at all they can hide. Do not call the cat’s name. That can spook them. Also, do not chase if seen. Many cats will go into survival mode or what’s called fight or flight mode and won’t even come to their owners. Get down on ground level and gently coax them to you patting the ground softly. Have some smelly canned food or shake a bag of treats. Have a carrier handy to put kitty into if it walks up to you. There’s a good possibility you might need to use a humane trap to catch your cat. Be consistent and do this nightly with the LED flashlight. I can’t stress this enough!! Also, you should set up a feeding station with a trail cam on it. I would set that up by the area the cat got out. Or, the last place they were seen hanging out. The trail cam will give you the capability to see if the cat is coming to eat. If so, you can set a humane trap baited with Mackerel in brine. It’s sold by the canned tuna in stores. It’s in a large can usually with the blue label. Your cat also might come back home looking for a way to get back in. If you can leave a window open that would be good. Also listen for the cats meow in case it’s trying to get back in at your front door. We have found many missing cats this way and some missing for a long time. The key points again…. 1. Cats will usually stay in the area lost unless they don’t find a food source. If they don’t find a food source in a few days, they will start to venture. Once they do they will most likely keep coming back to that area to eat. 2. You MUST, MUST, MUST search for your cat using a bright LED flashlight looking for glowing green eyes. Be consistent and do this nightly. Don’t give up. It took us a month to catch a missing cat that we would see nighty using the flashlight method and a trail cam. We also found another cat that was trapped and dumped 30 miles away. That one also took a month to catch. The night we caught her we had been searching for 5 hours consistently. 3. Establish a feeding spot with a trail cam. If he is coming to eat replace it with a baited trap. Trap must be watched hourly. Best of luck. Don’t give up and your chances of finding your cat are very good.
