Eric Dale thank you for your advice. Our cat has a microchip. We've reached out to several shelters, and they've reassured us that checking for a microchip is always their first step. I believe vet clinics would check right away too

Put some food and water outside the door and a piece of clothing you wore, she could come back, I know several people who have done this and the worked, including my son who's cat was missing for 32 hours and came back in the middle of the night, meowing outside the door.......
