You may already know all of this so I apologize up front as I copy/paste this several times every day! …list your nearest large street, city, county and state the pet is missing from….Place some DIRTY and SMELLY socks, T-shirts, undies etc… outside your home so they can smell your scent and get home. Tracker’s recommend that you put your worn clothing at the four corners of your yard and change it out every 24 hours, and/or empty vacuum cleaner contents around the periphery of the yard. Also put out the dogs blanket bed whatever on the porch. Anything that can get the scent of home out there may help draw the dog home. Open your windows if possible. Dogs have a keen sense of smell and can smell from many miles. Make a simple flier to hang w/the pets photo, “missing,”and your phone number to post at neighborhood entrances, vet offices, convenience stores (carry duct tape and clear tape)…etc… Drive and look but DO NOT CALL their name! Calling randomly can confuse pets as to where you are. If the dog hears you near ABC St. & you then drive to XYZ St. and call their name, they may get further lost. Walk around and ask neighbors if your pet has been seen. File a lost report w/the animal shelters in your county and in nearby counties. GO and check local shelters, contact rescues as they pull dogs from shelters often and may have your pet. Get on their social media pages and see if your dog is in any shelter or rescue photos. Post on the next-door app for your area. If he has a favorite squeaky toy, take it out in the yard and squeak it several times a day. He may hear it and it may lead him to you. Sit outside and talk or read aloud in a Normal , calm voice. And please… WHEN your pet gets home, please edit the top of the original post with something like **Back with family**or *** FOUND *** etc… in all your originally listed different groups. That way IF this baby goes AWOL again we can locate you fast!
