MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Our Merlin we thought at first could've been trapped behind a box or under something, as we're rearranging furniture & belongings after a move. But there was just absolute silence all weekend, we've not seen him, and we get no response to calling him indoors or out (this makes us think he's hiding and scared). He tends to be active at night, which in a big apt cmplx makes it harder. I'm trying not to think about all the things that could've happened to him, but it makes me more scared for him. He's my baby and I miss him so. I'm disabled due to hip surgery so use a walker and can't move around much, and I live with my disabled son, who needs a lot of care. We do have a caregver who is doing a lot of the searching, and he's worried too--he's the Food Man! Any help or hope for our Merlin is much appreciated.

DESCRIPTION

3 years old, domestic shorthair, neutered, all black except for a few white hairs at his neck, yellow eyes, sturdy body, weighs 11 pounds, soft trilling cry, tiny purr, friendly but maybe disoriented and scared (he's a former feral who hasn't been outdoors in two years), left ear has a slight tip from frostbite not a cmmunity cat tip.

I wonder if he has moved in with someone who is keeping him indoors. Have you been able to get flyers up? I would plaster them everywhere, and also in rental offices.

I am just seeing your message....it's a little late for advice I realize, but I have a black cat and I am a cat lover too. Cats are expert hiders and can squeeze into the tiniest places. Lay on your floor on your back by your beds to look underneath your beds to make sure cat is not inside your beds. Make flyers on 8.5x11 paper, make hundreds of them and hang them EVERYWHERE within a 10 mile radius of your home. Look very very well up trees, in thick bushes, near dumpsters, under cars, in ditches, etc, contact your local animal control. Most states if a good samaritan finds an animal/pet they are not able to keep and they call animal control who picks up pet/animal to bring to shelter. Take one of your shirts or nightgowns that you've worn recently and put outside near your apartment. Call your apartment office and tell them so maintenance people don't pick up and throw away. Also, there is a company that uses bloodhounds to find missing pets. Let me see if I can find their info and I will put it here. Another tip is to call local veterinarian clinics to see if anyone has brought in a black cat or if anyone has hung a "found"flyer. Praying for you all
