Message from Owner

I haven't seen my Blackie since January 10th. I have been looking for him everywhere and I don't have any friends so I was searching my neighborhood asking others if they had seen him. I had no idea this website existed, if I had known, I would have posted here sooner. I did check SPCA website to no avail. He was not chipped. I went to Los Angeles on January 10th for only 2 days/1 night and I left my family member (who lives with me) in charge of feeding him for the 2 days I was gone. She said she saw him and fed him that night. Upon returning the next day, I never saw Blackie again. I knew him and was taking care of him for 2+ years and he knw me as his mama. My neighbor took him as a baby from his boss and threw him on the street to fend for himself (which is how I found him ...wandering my yard searching for food). So he was a stray as a baby, only around 4 months old, but he knew me and was used to me since he was a baby (i met him at around 3-4 months old) so I became his mama. So I started feeding him over 2 years ago and taking good care of him and he came to my door daily. In these 2+ years he had never missed a day to come sleep in my , eat, cuddle, etc! I bought him many pet beds and toys and I also kept him well groomed and flea free with flea collars, daily comb thrus, and monthly medicines because he was an outdoor cat and didn't like to be confined. I love Blackie so much and I miss him. He has a very shiny coat and I fed him well with plenty of treats as well, so he was not skinny in January. I bought him a collar but I never put it on him because he didn't like anything on his neck. He would run fast as I was trying to put it on. Please help me. I know there are many all black cats in this area in Oakland. I call out "Blackie?!" to each one I drive my bicycle past, in hopes that one of them is him. I just want to know if Blackie is dead or alive and thriving so I can stop searching and have peace of mind. I work from so Blackie would sleep all day in my big bed by himself and only wake up so I could feed him then he'd go back to sleep until the evening when he wanted to go and play outside. So when i returned after spending only 1 night away from him, I found it very alarming that Blackie didn't show up to my open door to sleep, rest, eat or whatever. My door was constantly open (literally open) for him and he knew this. This is why I think something happened to him. If anyone has seen him or perhaps know if he's been found and adopted please let me know. I just want to know if he is alive and well. He was my first "pet" and he is my best friend and I cared for him very well even. I love Blackie. Thank you kindly for taking the time to read this post.

HappyCatLady Okay, I'm just now reading this second or first message of yours. I am going to follow your directions and do this tonight. I'm going to go around and ask my neighbors (some are not very friendly). I will call out to Blackie in mornings and evenings. No, unfortunately Blackie was not fixed because the neighbor that he originally "belonged to" claimed that he belonged to "everyone". The woman's husband took Blackie as a baby from his boss whose cat had a litter of babies because apparently the boss wanted to "get rid" of the kittens. This is exactly how the neighbor explained it to me (yes I was shocked). And then my cruel neighbor and her husband literally threw blackie onto the street to fend for himself (he was a baby) because they didn't want the kitten to begin with. She said her husband took Blackie to appease the boss but as soon as he got home he let the kitten outside. I know, this story is horrible but it's the truth. There are cruel people in this world who don't love animals. So when I started feeding blackie, I had no idea that my neighbor threw him out. She is cruel to her dog keeping him in a very small contained area outside so of course she will be cruel to other animals. Then when she found out I was feeding and taking care of Blackie, she said "oh they gave that black cat to my husband". And she told me the horrible story with no shame in her speech. She even thought blackie was a girl and kept telling me he was a female and not a male cat. I finally had to tell her "i've been taking care of Blackie everyday for over a year, and he is definitely a boy. He is my boy." and she just told me "he's a community cat, every can feed him". horrible response to excuse her and her husband's actions. All this info to say that I didn't feel okay to take him as my own and adopt him, get him fixed, even though he is mine! I will never make that mistake again. Well, it's getting late so I'm going to go outside. I will put flyers directly on the doors with painters tape as you stated. Again, thank you so much! You are a gem for helping so many of the cats in the community! Truly awesome! Oh, and you are right about cats getting stuck in small spaces. Last year, Blackie was stuck in my evil neighbor's bat. Immediately I went out to search for him when he didn't come to eat...at 8PM I heard his cries and saw his paws calling for me through a vent at their bat. So I immediately called my neighbor's son who didn't answer and I texted him to please come home to let the cat out of the bat. He did and Blackie came running out of there to me. Oh my poor Blackie.....where oh where could he be.

o Ms. CatLady, and thank you so much for replying to my post!🙏I had no idea someone actually replied until now as I rarely go on facebook and I didn't receive any notifications from pawboost that you messaged me. You have been very helpful and informative so thank you. I also find it very suious that Blackie disappeared after I was absent for only 1 night. It's actually just my niece and I. She just came to live with me in January but lives downstairs, and I live upstairs. I did ask her to feed him for the 2 days I was gone. I asked her a couple of times exactly what happened the last time she saw and fed Blackie and she just told me that she fed him once and then he never appeared again. I know she loves animals and would never hurt him. She did have a few friends over that weekend I left so I'm thinking perhaps Blackie got confused and left. But you know, truthfully, I can't be certain what happened to my poor Blackie. I feel so sad without him. He was my best buddy. An old, senior black and white tuxedo cat started to come to my yard very slowly each night now that Blackie is gone. I think this tuxedo cat is getting used to me feeding him because he actually waits at my door at night until I come out and see him and feed him. But he is still very afraid/skiddish so he runs away from me after I come outside then he returns to eat the food. I go inside to let him eat in peace. Yesterday, I got a good look at his face and he is definitely a senior. I see something is wrong with one of his eyes; perhaps he has an eye infection. I have been feeding him every night and leaving him treats. Something has obviously happened to Blackie. I should have adopted him legally and then I would probably now know what happened to him. I wish I could adopt a cat but my home is not big enough (I feel) for a indoor cat to have freedom. And I just dislike it if the cats can't have the play time and freedom they need. I wish many strays would come to my door but so far, only 1 has come. Well, thank you so much for your help! You've been very kind! I see you have many beautiful cats.....you are very fortunate

He could have injured a back foot and cannot jump fences to return to your backyard - don't go searching far for him - he knows where home is and must be nearby - they don't leave their territory where they are loved and are fed...most cats have a territory of a block or so but some unfixed male cats have several blocks as their territory - the timing of you leaving 1 night just seems so SUIOUS to me - ugh I'm so sorry - he is so beautiful and loves you so much - if he could be home he would be - my hugest fear is getting stuck in someone's bat or storage or crawl space or getting hit by a car....sending you love and hope xoxoxoxo damia

Oh gosh I am Very very sorry I am only now seeing your long message you were gone for 1 night ONLY - and you are positive that your family member who fed him that night is telling the truth and loves Blackie too? Sorry I have to ask because it is VERY ODD that the one night you leave he disappears....... Cats do NOT leave their territory - it does seem like something happened - he could have been injured or he could be stuck under a crawl space someone closed him in not knowing.... YWas blackie fixed? Unfixed cats get into terrible fights with other male cats due to mating and territory - we've had a cat that we were trying to trap a neighbor had been feeding for a year (we were trapping to get himfixed)the cat disappeared for 3 months and returned with injuries - we nurtured him back to health... ou must remain CLOSE and start over - this time knocking on doors and asking neighbors to open crawl spaces and storage and garages PARTIALLY FOR 3 HOURS - giving him time to escape if he's been locked in. ❤️ 🙏 Call for kitty early morning and at night as you walk around slowly, and during the day knock on doors ask neighbors to PARTIALLY open garages and sheds and storages and crawlspace - any place kitty could have gotten stuck - leave partially open for 2 hours allowing him time to escape..if a neighbor is not home, then tape a flyer to the front door using painter's tape (won't harm the door) Keep track on a printed google map so you don't miss anyone..don't give up ❤️ Don't wait for anyone online - we live all over and your kitty is near YOU and your actual neighbors who are not seeing these posts ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Don’t give up - continue to call for him at night and early morning when it’s quiet. Last month Another lost cat was found 2 doors away UNDER the house TRAPPED under the house for a MONTH! - the neighbor heard something when she came home late and saw a very thin cat - she banged on her neighbor's door (she had seen the flyers for a month!) and he raced over and got his cat - who was SKINNY and dirty but alive!! Don't give up and don't stop taking action in person. Your cat could be stuck in a neighbor's shed or crawl space - please ask neighbors again to open up garages/sheds/storage units/crawl spaces/bats for 3 hours - allowing time for escape. Put out wet food by the door your cat normally goes in and out of ... they are often way closer than we think - just stuck and too scared to meow or sometimes they can't meow for not having water for so many days. Gain permission to go under bats ALONE - shine a flashlight under carefully - in the hopes of catching the GLOW of your cat's eyes. Continue to slowly walk and call for your cat - going right up to neighbor's garages and up against fences...let neighbors know you will be doing this at night...❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
