Lost &.

Solo Coe This is how PG works and most shelters: The stray animals that we post to this page that are currently at Prince George's County Animal Shelter must be legally held for 3 shelter business days (no indication of owner) or 5 shelter business days (indication of owner) to allow an owner to come forward and redeem.
If no owner comes forward, once they’re off of their “stray hold,” they are then made available to the public for adoption if there are no barriers in their way such as medical, behavioral, humane holds, or banned breeds.
To view adoptable animals, visit https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/226/Adopt-a-Pet
We recommend calling the shelter first, (301-780-7200) to see if an animal is indeed available and/or when their stray hold is up. You must have the Animal ID # for each animal to find out info on them. The shelter does not hold animals for interested adopters, it is first come, first serve. The shelter is no longer appointment only.
We are not the county shelter. This page is not operated by shelter staff. The limited info that we have we share in the posts. Any other questions need to be directed to the shelter itself.
