I’m dealing with this right now too. What I wish I’d done sooner Is knock on doors asking neighbors to check trees, bushes, under and in garages/porches/sheds, and more than once in case he wasn’t there but is now. Hang brightly colors fliers right away all over the area, post on several sights like Next Door, Ring Neighbor and FB Mboro. Get the word out fast ! Some think your cat couldn’t be in their garage because they’d see them but my cat is a timid hider by nature -like yours- so I don’t know that he’d run off if someone entered a space he was in like a garage. More likely, he’s curl into tighter ball so really inspect those areas. I also wish I had/gotten security cameras sooner so I could see if he was coming around in the first week and was still nearby and trap him. I hope this info can help. My neighbors have been great about watching for him and many say they knew about him from either online posting or flyers I put up. Also, check PAWS frequently abd dont trust that all the animals they have are on their strays page-go look in person. I just wish I’d done all the things faster! Good luck! I I feel your pain. Check with neighbors especially if any of them have video doorbell.. she might be under a shed or neighbors bushes
