When you do your night walks after 10.30pm when the world is quieter, take a flash light and the dry food container and shake it or tap it as you go. And look in all hiding places close by to where your cat escaped from. Under buildings, shrubs, parked vehicles, up trees, absolutely everywhere and most especially in the storm water drains in your's and nearby streets. The Flashlight will show up the eyes. Do not go once, go every night calling (try not to sound distressed) and just the repetition of doing that can help a cat find their way back to you. Make up fliers with his photo and contact details and door knock as many neighbours as you can. Calling as you go because he might have gotten shut in a vehicle, shed, garage, or house, when people have gone away on holiday. Always check in with local Pounds, and check in person as it's illegal to allow cats to roam, and Council have new Laws.. Also neighbours have been catching cats and calling Rangers. Good luck in finding your beautiful fur baby. 🙏

Hi Feeling for you all but please know there’s a very good chance you’ll be reunited with your kitty! Data on lost cats shows it's HIGHLY probable that your kitty is hiding or trapped very close by. Even higher if they’re usually an indoor cat. Deep search in a 5 house (on each of your 4 sides) radius, right away, door knock making direct contact with the resident of EVERY house. Ask them if you can check their garden, garage, pool area etc while they wait. 5-15 min calling cat’s name and listening for their sounds. Most neighbours will be OK with this. Be alert to an unoccupied house (vacant or ppl on holidays). They're not always obvious. Our cat Bear was recently trapped for 18 days under a vacant house just one street behind us. House was hidden behind high front wall and well tended nature strip so we didn't realise it was vacant. Left a flyer which was pointless. Walked past day and night calling his name but we would never have heard him. Distressed cats are often silent or if vocal, are hoarse from crying out and dehydration. Bear's usually very loud and chatty voice was a mere whisper when he returned. If you can't make contact with resident go back early evening when most ppl return home. If still no contact, ask the neighbours/real estate for resident/owner contacts and whether they're away. And then follow it up. Our cat was discovered by the vacant house owner when they met their builder onsite. After hundreds of hours of searching it was pure luck that saved Bear, so close to home. All because we overlooked one unoccupied house. In case Kitty is not trapped but hiding close by, leave out fresh water and dry food plus their bedding and your worn clothes. Most effective time to draw them out is when the world is quiet and they can hear your calm voice. Walk with cooked chicken (very aromatic) or their favourite food between 3-5am each early morning (in that same close radius) gently calling their name. Be sure to leave space after calling to listen for movement or meows. Use your torch to search dark spots and see reflected eye shine. Draw upon your community’s eyes and support with posters on bus stops / power poles and letterbox flyers. Many ppl aren’t on FB and trust me this works! If Kitty is out in the open they will be seen and you’ll be contacted. Ppl are super helpful. All the best for finding your fur baby, don't give up, statistically they’re very close by and they really want to reunite with you.
