Message from Owner

Please help me find Katniss. We believe she got out through a broken window screen during the nighttime hours between Sunday and Monday. We’ve looked all over our hse and are pretty certain she isn’t here. Please be on the lookup. She’s pretty small and get scared easily. Thank you

Check extremely good around your house and neighbors, shrubs, bushes, high grass, paper bags and trees, underneath porches and decks, outbuilding and garages, evening time when it’s quiet too, check all shelters in your county and animal control also.

Lost Cat Post to your neighborhood Nextdoor.com website. Check with animal control and police to see if anyone has found a cat of this description. Check neighborhood surveillance cameras Put a surveillance or trail camera of your own up in case cat comes near your house when you’re not home or asleep. For NY residents or those in CT close to NY border:Post on Lost Pets of the Hudson Valley Facebook Also: one can try a drone service near your area. If pet is stolen: Report to police. Ask neighbors to check their surveillance cameras. Give picture of dog with your contact info to postal, ups etc drivers and ask them to keep an eye out. Just scared. Call softly and listen carefully especially between 10 pm and dawn when things are quiet. Also use a flashlight as their eyes will reflect back to you from the dark. Others say this will attract other predators that will chase away your cat or worse.

If spayed , she’s close. Leave a door open for her so she can get back in, securing other pets first. Look in garages in your neighborhood, she could be trapped inside

Go outside at night with a bag of treats and a FLASHLIGHT (an absolute must). Call his name while shaking the bag of treats and shining the flashlight. Most indoor cats are frightened at night and stay stationary. The flashlight will catch his eyes. This isn't necessarily a one time attempt. Consistency is what will remove fear from the cat and what will get him to come to you. Praying you find him soon and safe!

First it is suggested that you crack your windows open as the one thing an indoor cat knows is the smell of their house. Second, when an indoor cat gets out they are usually very close to their home - usually a couple of hundred feet. They will find some place to hunker down and stay there until they are hungry or thirsty. They will come out in the middle of the night (not at dawn or dusk when predators may be around). Do not leave lights on as cat may feel more secure venturing out when it is darker. It is also suggested if it is safe to do so to leave door that tge cat got out of cracked opened with a bowl of water and bowl of smelly food like tuna inside door with camera on the door that will alert you when there is any movement. Put out an article of your unwashed clothing and bedding- they can recognize the scent and it may help them find their way home. Indoor cats do not travel far they may be hiding nearby- check under porches, bushes and even under a parked car. If you call her/him, call gently- do look while it's dark and quiet- - Put flyers with photo and decent reward in your local Stewarts; post on Steve Caparizzo's FB page and your neighborhood Nextdoor app as well as Pawboost asap! Notify your neighbors!! Let the animal shelter and the own animal control officer know as well. Post a flyer with the cat's picture and a reward in local Stewart's etc. If someone has picked them up, seeing the flyer with a reward may motivate them to return the kitty to you. All that helped me get my boy back. I will pray for your cat’s safe return real soon! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
