Put the dog's towels outside on a hanger,or right on the fire escape, step out or deck,put its owner's worn clothes outside on a clothing line,on a hanger on the windowsill, fire escape,etc,the scent will travel and help guide the dog back home.

File a Lost report with SFACC, and check the kennels a couple of times a week. Post on Nextdoor in Dog groups, and in Lost and Found Pets groups,post on Neighbors app, and activate the Search Party feature on Neighbors. Put up Lost flyers in the area where the dog is lost,or was last seen.
