Message from Finder

@Found dog, this guy was running in the rain, I scooped him up, try a couple doors in the neighborhood but no luck, went to ER to scan for chip, no chip. So he is in my bathroom now. Please let me know if he is yours or you recognize him. Found near Tuers and McLaughlin road. Will take him to San Jose Animal shelter tomorrow

Do they have curly or straight fur?

Nara Vu thanks for doing that for this fur baby! Yes, he looked well groomed so he looks like he belongs to somebody. It's unfortunate he didn't have a chip though. The shelter is overcrowded and stressful, so it's great that you found him a temporary foster home instead.

Update: I did not take the dog to the shelter but found a temporary foster home for him. So he is safe at a foster home. Along with posting on online platforms, I already filed a found pet form with San Jose shelter with the dog description and my contact information so if the owner comes find him, the shelter will contact me. I don’t plan to just give the dog to just anyone here asking to take the dog, he is well behaved on leash, in the car, and also potty trained, he appears to be well groomed as well, this dog definitely belongs to someone. I will try my best to find his owner first

30 days need to pass to give the owners time to claim him/her before letting anyone else adopt them.

Here are some tips: 1. Post on PawBoost, NextDoor, Neighbors, and Facebook. Pawboost allows you to create a flier. Get fliers up asap. Inform your, landlord, HOA, or apartment manager (if it makes sense to do so). 2. Post on the two main Facebook group pages first and foremost: “All San Jose Lost & Found Animals”; “Lost & Found Pets of Santa Clara County”. 3. Then if it makes sense, also post to: “Alum Rock Foothills”, “Berryessa Friends & Neighbors “; “All Milpitas, Northeast San Jose Alviso Lost & Found Animals”; “Lost and Found Pets: North San Jose”; “Willow Glen Animal Neighbors”; “Lost And Found Pets South San Jose”; “Lost & Found Pets…East San Jose: Meadowfair,LeVay,OB Whaley, Silver Creek”; “Cambrian Park Animal Neighbors”; “PET COMMUNITY IN SAN JOSE (LOST&FOUND)”; “Lost & Found Pets…San Jose:Cambrian/Willow Glen Area”; “LOST AND FOUND PETS in Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga & Campbell”; “LOST AND FOUND PETS in Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga & Campbell”; “South County Lost and Found Pets (Gilroy, San Marin, Morgan Hill) **Only post to “Northside Neighborhood San Jose” if your pet is in that area.** 4. Please register them as MISSING or FOUND at San Jose Animal Care Center (if in SJ, Saratoga, Cupertino & Milpitas) OR County of Santa Clara Animal Services (County or Unincorporated areas) OR Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (if in Santa Clara, Campbell, Mtn. View, Los Gatos/Monte Sereno). They can rescan and add to their online found registration where owners should look. This is the first place that people look for their pets. This must be done in person! 5. Alert your chip company chip if your pet. Get scanned for a chip if not your pet. 6. Check for your missing pet AT San Jose Animal Care Center OR Santa Clara County Shelter, OR Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority, and look on their Websites in-between visits. Also please understand that a photo of your pet might look a bit different if they have been lost for bIt (dirtier, hair longer, thinner, or without their collar). Please note animal holds are only for 3-days, if not your pet is lucky enough to get in the shelter as they are FULL. After the hold time, your pet can be placed for adoption, so it’s important to look each day!!! IMPORTANT! - FOR CATS: 7. For lost cats, reach out to a seasoned trapper so they can set a humane trap. Ask neighbors to check sheds, garages, under decks, bushes and under cars. Put your dirty T-shirt, PJs, Workout clothes, Pillowcases (hang low on a bushes with good airflow) so they can SMELL YOU, and find their way home. 8. Always chip your pet and keep the chip number saved where you can find it. Save in your phone under contacts Your Pets Name. Call your chip company to update if your move. In addition to a chip, get a breakaway collar with and I.D. tag and KEEP IT ON YOUR pet. 9. Buy an AirTag for your dog. This will give you a good indication which direction they are heading towards.
