Please post flyers everywhere in that shopping center, and also all over the neighborhoods every day. My heart breaks for you. Please keep posting our nextdoor.com your Neighbourhood watch and all lost pet sites. Keep calling your shelter the Newport Beach animal shelter, and fax a flyer over there. Be sure you give the people that own the Stores flyers in case they see your cat. I’m praying you find your baby.

Where I live, cats don’t have a chance with coyotes. They are night creatures- as are coyotes. Think cats need to be in at night, which against their breed.

Coyotes are out there. My friend's cat was caught by a coyote in her yard in La Mirada. She saw the coyote. But it was too late. Don't know about Newport.

Please report your kitty as lost to NB Animal Shelter in case someone turns him into them. Also post him on Nextdoor and Ring. Indoor cats are usually close to home within 3 houses away. After checking all possible hiding places in your home, hang clothes with your scent out. Scent only - no food or litter box. Ask your nearby neighbors to look in their yards, bushes, garages and outdoor cameras to see if he is there. Post fliers with the cat’s pic and your contact information on it around the area he is missing so if he is spotted, the person can tell you his location. Keep an access point open for him to slip back in your home. Look in bushes or hiding spots around your home as if this cat is unfamiliar with being outdoors, he is most probably scared of all the new sounds and smells and will make himself safe by finding a hiding spot. Sometimes the best time to find your cat is when the noise level is low - after hours - or early morning hours. Take a flashlight and look for the shining eyes. I also recommend playing a YouTube video on your phone of meowing cats turned up full blast right outside of your home, as cats are drawn to hearing other cats nearby. Please let me know if you’d like to borrow a humane cat trap, time is of the essence!🙏🏻❤️🐾

My personal experience has been first securing other cats in another closed-off room, dimming/turning off most or all inside/outside lights and — if safe to do so and should be supervised — leaving doors (especially door/window escaped through) open/ajar in the very early morning (basically, need to camp out in room where door is ajar). (Cats have a keen wide-ranging/radius sense of smell; therefore, it is so important to get their familiar “home” scents into the airwaves.) Every time, my little escape artist has come bolting through the door between 3:00 — 5:00 AM. (NOTE: When he’s escaped and door is closed, he panics and takes off again — it is important they have a way in once they come out of hiding and make a mad dash for home.) Hopefully, if not used to being outdoors, FLASH is very close by just scared to come out until it’s really dark and really quiet. Prayers for a quick safe return !!🙏🏻
