Please follow Monica’s advise from your original post. Cats do usually hide close to home. Go out and look now before it is too hot. You can pass by him two times maybe the third time he might finally make a sound or come when he hears your voice. Cats hide and don’t make a sound because they are scared. Put water and food out near his likely exit point. Crack garage door, as he might just go in there. Also check really well indoors inside, even in places you think he could never be in. If someone left a cupboard or closet door open for a couple minutes, he may have crawled in there out of curiosity and then it could have gotten closed. That just happened to me a week ago. Even check drawers. Unless you know for sure he got out.

Please consider keeping your cats inside your homes. So much safer for them and less trouble for you.
