Anna Marie Glover There is a leash/containment ordinance in Floyd County that does not exclude breeds that "roam and know their way back home". It's for ALL dog owners, regardless of breed. There was a comment on a 'Found' post from the owner of a small dog that had followed some walkers to their house near a busy highway. The owner commented that if the finder "would just let him (the dog) out, he would come home." No 'thank you' for keeping the dog off the street and safe from traffic, but had claimed to be "worried sick" about him. The finder was in close proximity to the dog's owner, but instead of going to pick the dog up, the owner wanted the finder to "just let him out" to find his way home. We don't live in the mountains with flocks of sheep and goats, where the worst thing a guard dog had to fear was a large predator. We live in a city with streets and maniac drivers, where the "smell" of home can be diluted by vehicle exhaust. You're fortunate that your "self thinker" finds his way home when he "thinks" it's time, but you're disrespecting other residents and responsible dog owners and placing yourself and your dog above the law.

Anna Marie Glover no they don't. Most end up shot or splattered on the highways sometimes both and the rest end up dying in overcrowded Georgia shelters due to the sickening amount of farm homes breeding them to death and the idiot owners who refuse to put a collar and name tag and phone number on them. They deserve so much better than that crappy homes they continually end up in and I have a list of thousands of them on my page so many Pyrenees just ethanized or about to be. 100% owner irresponsibility

These dogs are renowned to roam BUT they do know their way back home ,I have one myself and I know if I let him out by himself he will roam and come back when he thinks it's time to come back. These dogs are self thinkers and were left on the mountains to guard flocks of sheep or goats ,they are nocturnal and work all night to protect and guard their flocks or their people. So many are picked up by people who don't know the breed .
