Stressful! Please search sheds, garages, under buildings, in drains, bins, skips, in between tall walls and fences, roof and wall cavities, on rooves, up trees, vacant buildings, storage areas etc. (Might be locked in / trapped somewhere, surviving on insects, etc). Create a temporary, stable ramp (eg put of a branch of wood) from inside to outside of drain, call down & leave strong food outside of overnight. Don't trust neighbours to search!!! Best ask permission to or go with. 10pm - 5am walks with strong smelling food and torch, when no cars: call calmly, stop, listen, wait. Leave strong smelling food (eg tinned Whiskas cat food meat and fish flavour or hot BBQ chicken) and water out overnight, near exit point and possible hiding places / where might be trapped. If eaten, last resort, a cat trap on level ground in a safe location. Google how to use safely, monitor closely. Posters, leaflets and door knock. CCTV cameras. Vets, pounds and animal welfare organisations regularly with photo. Ensure microchip details are correct, register as lost. Do all at previous address, if puss recently moved home. (One cat recently travelled 26km to previous address, arrived 6 weeks after lost. Another found 500 metres away from where lost, 7 months later. Most cats need to be locked in for 3+ weeks to bond to a new home, otherwise sooner or later might try head back to previous home or territory. Most cats are escape artists until bonded to new home eg breaking through mosquito netting and forcing sliding doors / windows open. Be extra vigilant!). New / timid cats & esp kittens prone to hiding / getting stuck under / behind / in furniture. So also check in / behind / under drawers, wardrobes, low lounges, recliner chairs (don't move leg rest until double-checked), fridges: behind where warm, washing machines (always check inside before washing). Track down where any vehicles puss might have entered travelled to, do same there 😞 🙏 (See Find Booboo page: determined owner perservered for 7+ months before found her skinny cat). Sadly, most cat lovers learn the hard & traumatic way that there are too many risks and hazards for roaming cats. (Eg cars, dogs, psychopath cat haters, ticks, toxins, foxes, snakes, pounds, locked in a shed, etc). Please consider keeping indoors and / or invest in a very secure cat enclosure or catio. (Research has found it adds 10+ years to average age of cats. Safer for cats and wildlife). Nevertheless, don't give up searching, might be ok this time ... 🙏

Hopefully this gives u some ideas that u havnt done yet: You must be proactive, don’t wait for them to hopefully come home. Go door knocking all the neighbours as far as you can ( streets behind u too) ask them to check under houses, inside & behind garages, sheds & in their yards- trees & bushes etc . Cats often get locked inside garages & the people don’t even know they snuck inside them. Go out late at night after traffic has gone & repeatedly call for puss. Also checking drains & trees in the streets. Do a letterbox drop to all houses as they may see the cat at a later time & can contact you. Check all local pounds & shelters in case someone has taken there, they have photos of pets on their sites, or go in person if you can. Place a sign at your local shops if you can with a photo & local Facebook groups in your suburb etc ALSO: ensure your pets details are correct & current on their microchip www.petregistry.nsw.gov.au Phone/contact number, address etc. Good luck 🤞

Elaine Williams That's really unfortunate to hear about the lost cat. It must be so tough for the owner, and I hope they’re able to find their way back soon. It’s always heartbreaking when a pet goes missing, but hopefully someone will spot them and help bring them home. It's great that you're sharing the post it might help spread the word and get them back safely. By the way Elaine, what area in the country are you?

I always post this in the hope it can help. Cats are often found in the vicinity from where they are missing - usually within a few houses, in the apartment block or within a few streets 🤞🏼(but sometimes farther out too) I have put together some detailed search tips (linked on my Facebook page as they are a bit long for the comments) You might be doing many of these already, but I wanted to share them just in case they can help. They include how to check your details are up to date on the microchip database (in NSW) and how to update them if required. My tips for searching for your cat: https://www.facebook.com/share/o7ZPCp8UT7h5Joph/?mibextid=ox5AEW This is another great resource too : https://www.g2z.org.au/assets/pdf/Lost%20Cat_FINAL.pdf ——————- ‼️ LOST PETS - SCAM ALERT‼️ Be aware that there will be people who will phone you and just say mean things about your pet. Or some people simply just prank you and hang up once you answered. Importantly - Please be aware there are scammers around that post in comments on posts about lost pets . Or sometimes they send you text/ sms messages - or tell you to message them For example - if you post that your pet is missing/lost , some people might try and scam you in the following ways: -they might say something like use this pet service they found my dog or cat in two hours. It was a miracle or something like that. - or they tell might you to text a number for assistance to find your pet. -by saying they have “information” about your lost pet or can “help” you find it , by clicking a link or instagram or Facebook page that helped them - Some of them even go so far as to send you text messages of other pets (in awful condition), saying it is yours. - Some claim that they have access to your pets air tag or tracking device or say they are a “tracking service” that has helped them They might approach you in post comments, FB messenger or even via text/SMS if your number is available. They often ask for payment in US dollars or bitcoin/ cryptocurrency. Often their social media says something like PAID SERVICE ONLY. **Don’t be tricked by them.** These scammers try to take advantage of desperate pet owners- what they want is your money, they are not going to help you.
