Erika Wehmeyer Watson not that it's any of your concern but I was the one who was against allowing her to go outside. She lives with my mom who has a dog door due to having an elderly dog who needs to go out alot to pee. She figured out how to use the dog door by watching the dogs use it and went put when no one was home. Before you decide to chastise a grieving person please get your facts straight first. As for in the future if she does get found or if she does come home trust she will not be allowed outside anymore due to us getting rid of said dog door. Thanks.

When your cat comes home, please keep it inside. Most cats that go outside live short lives that end tragically due to: bad weather, cars, cat fights, loose dogs, disease/parasites, chemicals/poison, local predators of land or air, or people that don't want them on their property. Not only is it unrealistic to think you can make your cat's safety other people's concern, it's irresponsible. Knowing this and still putting it outside is no different from playing Russian roulette with their life.
