Message from Owner

Bobby is the weirdest looking dog you've ever seen. He has long brown fur that is more like hair. It parts straight down his spine, no matter what you do to it. He is about 30-40lbs and long like a dachshund. He's taller than a dachshund, but still very short. If you see him please DO NOT call to him, just contact us and note the time & direction you see him going. He will continue to run & can easily climb a 6ft fence. He is terrified of people he does not know and this is NOT his first time on the run. Also if you have seen him anytime since June 20th, please reach out to us with any information!

He wasn't sighted at all last week with the heat & fireworks & storms, but he has been spotted running amuck multiple times this week

I will never understand why people deny access to property, when someone is searching for their dog!! Well, karma will find them, I think! Have you talked to a rescue in the area (a vet may know of one or two!) where he has been seen, to see if one has a drone? That would help, but of course, access to property may be needed!! If it is shown he's on a person's property, maybe they WILL help, or talk to a county sheriff! Maybe they would have a suggestion, or BE allowed on the property!!

Paula Luedke Pennington yes many of these things have been done! Story County & Boone County (where he was adopted from) Animal Control are both aware. At least one vet clinic in the area is aware, I'm unsure of the area so I'm not sure if there are others. Might double check with radio stations, thanks for the suggestion! Fliers have been put up in many areas. Many neighbors are aware. He was believed to be on someone's large property for awhile, but that owner denied us access & did not help. Other neighbors have their cameras pointed towards the trails & have given us permission to sit in their yards if we need to. The last time he was seen was reported by someone who was driving on HWY 30 under State Ave in Ames. He was reported to be on the south side of the highway. There were many sightings of him along Mortensen Rd between the private property we were denied access to all the way to State Ave. He had also been seen in some fields that belong to ISU & we were also denied permission to walk in those fields at all. My family was his foster family for about a month & we live in the Des Moines metro. We have been traveling to Ames nearly every day to look for him, we definitely are not giving up hope!

Theresa Scholl Sullivan yes, they are aware as the have caught Bobby once before, when he was brand new to the state! Like I mentioned, this isn't his first time on the run. He just hasn't stayed in the same area & no one has seen him all week 😕

I will share to my daughter who works in Ames. I'm hoping you get your fur baby back soon. Paws of Hope Animal Rescue is a great organization that has reunited families many times. They are all volunteers.
