So sorry you're dealing with this. Set the kitty litter pan outside.

Samantha Lee I would set the traps tonight outside as many exterior doors as you can for tonight, ideally one on each side of your house. Drape some of your worn clothing over the traps, being careful not to put the clothing too close to the trigger on the traps. You can also lay a piece of worn clothing next to each trap. Used Pillowcases, worn socks & worn shirts are all good for scent. Monitor the traps from a window. Don’t go outside once you set them because you risk scaring her off if she’s approaching or thinking about approaching.

Mb Stevens thank you for your great suggestions! I have some clothing and her blanket out and the neighbors have been notified. I feel they are too far away for her to go to but can never be too sure. I would love to leave a door or window open but there is another cat around which I am unsure if it is fixed. We moved 9 miles away and are in some serious woods now. I was out until 11:30 last night with a flash light looking for her beautiful, shiny eyes but no luck.

Karla Smith thank you for the great suggestions! I will stop out tomorrow for them. I got traps today to set up over night. I’m not sure if she knows where the entry/exit doors are as she was only here at the house for 12ish hours.

Lost house cats usually do not go far. Look in,under, on top of all structures/trees in the near vicinity. Have a flashlight with you as his/her eyes will reflect in the dark. If you do see him/her, no sudden movements. Have some treats or his/her food with you. Also, if you can leave a door or window slightly open, he/she may come back in their own. Keep an ear to the outside after dark. Many kitties come back after dark and meow to be let back in. Leave a piece of clothing with your scent near the open space that is helpful.Have neighbors look in garages, sheds and other structures. Also if you did not see him/her get out or know for sure she/he did, check every inch of your house, she/he could be trapped or hiding somewhere. Good Luck! Also check ALL moving boxes! If she did get out is your old place nearby, she could make her way back there..

Samantha Lee you need to get a motion activated camera set up at least outside her point of exit & possibly any other doors she may come back to. The reason being is because she’s most likely to return, trying to get back inside after dark, likely when you’re sleeping & not watching for her. Cameras will alert you if she’s approaching during the night & which door she’s coming back to. If this happens, then you need to set a humane trap outside that door of the sighting or you can also try leaving that door open once it gets dark to see if she’ll walk back in on her own. If you try this, secure any other pets in another room. Your cat is likely in survival mode so she may run if you see her & try to approach her. If you do see her, immediately sit down so you appear smaller, which is less intimidating. Try to coax her to come to you, do not stand up or chase. I would go to Walmart today & buy some motion activated cameras that will send alerts when there’s movement. Definitely keep refreshing the dirty laundry outside the doors for scent. Do not put the litter box outside as it will attract other roaming cats, preventing your cat from returning. Once you set a trap or leave a door open, do not go outside. She likely won’t approach if you’re outside walking around.
