1. Cats do not travel far. In fact, chances are she very very close. 2. Use of a flashlight helps illuminate the eyes when searching. 3. Think like a cat. Search anywhere they may fit, under cars, sheds that may have small openings, ask neighbors to check garages. 4. They do not respond to calls as they’re in survival mode and don’t want to call attention to themselves, even calls from their hoomans. I was certain one of my cats slipped outside while electricians were working in the house. Three days later on a hunch, I put a litter box in the basement, even though I searched high and low in that basement and found nothing. An hour later, I checked the litter box and they were little paw prints. If I hadn’t checked the basement, which we rarely used she would’ve perished down there. We got her with a have a heart trap.
