If able, try posting on the local Nextdoor app (if possible), lost .petcolove .org and watching craigslist. If you post to other groups, be sure to add the county, city and state to your posting since the posting may be shared nationally. Also, take flyers to shelters and vet offices with a photo and report the pet found. They have a board for both lost and found pets. Remember, not everyone is on Social Media. (IF able, try taking to a vet to check for a microchip too. Ask for proof of ownership by either vet records or a picture from the phone.)

If you find a pet: Even if you just see a dog loose, and cant act, report to animal control at 859 255-9033 as found and have checked for micro chip. Some people don't have Facebook and owners will look at animal control for their pets. If you can't hold please take to the shelter. Plus post to Lost and Found Pets of Lex, and post to Pawboost, and next door. Scroll through Lost and Found Pets of Lex and Pawboost to see if pet reported missing. Please take to animal control, and remember, a loose cat might be a neighbor’s indoor/outdoor cat. Turtles, birds, pigs, boas, etc are best taken to animal control, they know how to care for them. Birds can be reported to ParrotAlerts.com The following is in no way directed at you personally, it is a standard comment i always include: For your own protection, if someone wants the pet or suggests you keep it, be aware of the laws concerning keeping/rehoming a found pet. It is considered theft.

Please check nearby storm drains and sewer pipes, vehicle engines and tire wells, plus attics and bats, garages and sheds, bushes and trees, and under buildings and porches. Good luck.
