Call LFACC to file a lost report, 859-255-9033. If you get their voicemail, please leave a message they will call you back. Go to the shelter daily if possible "to look at" the animals that are there.
Make a post on your Facebook page and tag "Lost and Found Pets of Lexington, Kentucky".
Post to Nextdoor.com.
Set outside their food, bedding, and your unwashed clothing, to help them find their home by scent.
They maybe in "survival mode". They won't respond to or recognize their family.
They will feel safest to move around at dawn and dusk. Take hot plain McDonald's cheeseburgers or hot rotisserie chicken from grocery deli with you when searching for them. If you see them sit/lay down quietly without looking at them. Make moaning/whimpering sounds like your hurt because they will investigate. Then drop pieces of the food you brought with you on the ground close to you. The hope is that they will come over to the smelly food and be close enough for you to be able to secure them. Take a leash or a "lead" (it has a loop to put over their head in case they don't have a collar on). Also take a flashlight with you, because the light will reflect off the retina in their eyes, and glow. Search under shrubs, porches, decks. Search in storage buildings, garages, and crawl spaces.
Please get permission from the resident before searching their property.
If they have a microchip contact the Vet clinic that implanted it, and the microchip company, to verify that your contact information is current.
Make flyers with the information/photo in this post, and hang on stop signs, light poles, and businesses near you.
Put the flyer in a clear plastic binder page so the opening is at the bottom of the flyer. Tape closed the opening. This will protect your flyer from rain...
